Nicky Cruz
Did Nicky ‘Cruz’ across the world and help us all?

-----------------------
Did an ex-gangster get gangs of our streets?

Ex-gangster, Nicky Cruz had a hard time as a teenagers as his parents would abuse him and called him the ‘Son Of Satan’ when in reality he practised what the ‘Son Of God’ asked us on Earth to do.

From the age of 15, he moved out of his family home in Puerto Rico and went to live with his married brother in New York, unfortunately after two weeks of living with his brother and his family he decided to leave along with live on the streets, the home of gangs.

After having an encounter with The Mau Maus, New York’s biggest gang he ended up joining them as it was the only decision that kept him safe as well as with shelter. He then became leader of the gang.

Later on, he had another encounter with a local preacher named David Wilkerson who eventually, after three weeks, got his message through to Cruz and other gang members. The next day they all decided on going to the police station, confronting them and giving all their weapons away.

As Cruz realised where we went wrong, he started to go round with preacher, David Wilkerson, to help other troubled children who needed shelter or to get onto the right path.

Afterward, he did his own preaching and went round helping children to become better; he also has an organisation named ‘NCO’ which stands for the Nicky Cruz Organisation.

Many people would say his work and life fits resembles the life of Jesus…

This is shown by how he goes round the world helping other just like the Jesus did. After Jesus Christ entered Nicky’s life he has not done anything bad at all as he did before when being in a gang, telling us that he is also clean and pure just like Jesus is.

In the bible it says that Jesus didn’t like seeing anyone suffering as he cured the ill even on Sundays, Cruz wants to help all the children on the streets so they don’t have to suffer like he had to when he lived

Rodriguez faces a few tensions in his personal experience such as being a "scholarship boy" as oppose to a well rounded student and and his life at home compared to a more friendly home environment. Rodriguez says that "I was a very good student, I was a also a very bad student. I was a scholarship boy, a certain kind of scholarship boy. Always successful, I was always unconfident. Exhilarated by my progress. Sad. I became the prized student - anxious and eager to learn. Too eager, too anxious - an imitative and unoriginal pupil." ( Rodrigues #283 ) Rodriguez describes himself here as imitating his teachers too much and being a perfect student instead of thinking for himself and taking in the knowledge he is given by his teachers and analyzing it and putting it to use. He is unoriginal and and uninteresting compared to a student who can use their knowledge in their own way and gets more involved. The other tension Rodriguez faces his the tension he has with his family, mostly his mother and father. At home his mother and father both support and encourage what he is doing very much but they didn't like the fact that he would always be in his room and the fact that the only thing he was involved with was school. "He permits himself embarrassment at their lack of education." (Rodriguez #286) This quote shows that Rodriguez's amount of knowledge of the english language and other subjects he had compared to his parents and therefore he was somewhat embarrassed by them and it created a tough home environment to live in because he didn't communicate much with his parents. This contrasts the home environment where their is a strong relationship between the family and their is communication.…

In his book "Monster: The Autobiography of an L.A. Gang Member", he tells of his life story and how he came and left the gang life. For thirteen years he was a member of the Eight Tray Gangsters, a set of the Crips, and throughout the book he explains, sometimes in full detail, the life he led while in the gang and his many times in jail and prison. These life stories he tells, include drive-byes, shootouts in supermarkets, parks, streets, houses etc., fist fights, group beatings, kidnapings, doing drugs, selling drugs, car-jacks, amputation, robbery, friend's deaths, enemies' deaths, being shot, knife fights, police abuse, jail riots, jail rapes and any other part of the gang life possible. Now if possible, imagine that this all happened within thirteen years, and to a teenager. These crimes, more specifically the brutal ones, are what got him his nickname "Monster Kody". None of this really affected him though, until when in jail, he was converted to a Muslim, when he changed his name to Sanyika Shakur. However, it took him a while to realize that what he was doing was wrong and it…
