First, the resolution to lose weight is essentially always the number one resolution each year. When I was pregnant with my daughter I ate a lot and gained fifty pounds; however, the doctor said, “You should not gain more than forty pounds.” Being that she was my second child the weight was a lot harder to lose; therefore, I told myself over and over to eat healthier and exercise more. Sometimes it’s easier said than done when working full time, going to school and a mother of two amazing children. Though taking time out of the day to workout improves not only your health, but will also benefit your marriage and give you more energy to play with your children.
Second, When I was younger my mother always said, “If you would’ve put it where it goes when you’re done playing with it you would know where it is.” Now that I have children of my own I catch myself saying those same words. I love having a clean and clutter free house; therefore, that gives me more time to spend with my family and friends’. Also, a person that is organized is more focused and spends less money. Organizing your pantries, closets and cabinets using labels and bins will keep your possessions more visible and accounted for and end up saving you money. Organizing your home may not be on the top of your list of things to do, but it should be. There are a ton of benefits to being organized. If you put the time and effort into being organized now, then you can free up tons of time later to do something more enjoyable.
Last, life can get busy at times; however, taking an extra hour a day to play a game with your children and going for a walk with your spouse can improve your life dramatically. The joy I get when playing a silly game of Uno with my children is the best feeling ever. Watching them laugh at me because I had to draw ten more cards can make any bad day turn into a wonderful evening. Sometimes just taking a walk outside with your spouse is all that’s needed for a quality moment together. There is nothing that can give you a healthier life than your own family; thus, makes a family stronger and are more connected.
In conclusion, everyone wants to improve their life somehow, but making changes to your everyday life can sometimes be hard to do. I’ve found that there are so many great perks if you can just stick with your New Year resolution. Having a healthier lifestyle, cleaning out all the clutter and taking extra time out of each day to spend with loved ones not only benefits myself but also benefits the whole family.

Throughout the course of the last nine weeks, my eyes have been opened to an entirely new world full of nutritional and exercising information. It is rough being a thirty-three year old husband and father, with an eye on trying to remain on this planet for as long as humanly possible. As parents, we all have goals we want to achieve. The usual suspects include seeing your children graduate high school and then college, walking your daughter down the aisle of her wedding, and being able to retire and continue to live a healthy and happy life. What I have come to realize through this nutritional and exercising information is that in order to accomplish this goal, there are certain aspects of my life that I need to change. I am not a particularly healthy eater. I do not exercise regularly. I mostly do what I can with the time I have available. I suspect this problem plagues many men across this country and around the world. In my state, the obesity rate is close to 30% and it continues to trend upward (Centers for Disease Control, 2011). Without a drastic change in lifestyle, I am simply adding to the statistics. The knowledge I have gained in this course has led me to believe that this is simply unacceptable. Something has to change, and I have a plan to make that happen.…

My first goal and probably the most difficult will be altering my daily diet. I usually eat pretty much whatever I want. However I have noticed within the last couple of years that has been yielding more negative results on my body. Another thing I have neglected over the years has been to consistently eat breakfast. Although my schedule for the day begins rather early, I just do not find the time to eat. I will now be including a high protein shake every morning to my meal plan. I already have plenty of protein powder around here with a two teen boys so I should be able to implement this with ease.…

As humans, losing weight and weight loss is a struggle many of us have encountered in life. We strive to achieve the body we have perceived as perfect and often times, including myself, have failed numerously at this goal. I have been there and done that, from Weight Watchers meals, to earnestly trying and going to the gym nearly every day, and even just skipping certain meals. To a certain extent all of these routines have worked for me, but not enough to keep going as I have stopped doing a lot of these activities; due to not keeping up with myself and every day eventually became a cheat day, where I would indulge in foods I know I shouldn’t have and not workout. As individuals, certain tasks and goals can become overbearing and can seem impossible to accomplish, but as a…

The first thing that I did was to put a calendar in front of the refrigerator. This would help me to remember about my diet plan day by day. Second, begins to stop consuming sugar and any food or drink that contains it. In its place I start to use Splenda, but after a month I replace it with stevia that is made from natural plant. Also stop eating, donuts, cakes and all chocolate bar as well as all kinds of drinks as soda and juices for their high sugar content. Changes my dishes, cup and glasses for smaller ones. I definitely had to reduce the amount of food I would ingest. Next leave all kinds of fried as fried eggs, fry potatoes and Mc Donald and all kinds of junk food as they were the cause of my overweight. I learned that a healthy and balanced diet could lead me to my goal of losing weight. I took up to four liters of water a day and every time I went out on the street, I carried a bottle of water with me, so I would not be tempted to drink soda, just as I would if I went to a…

I have chosen four goals that will be applied to my life on a Daily/Weekly basis. It was important to me to know what my body needs and is capable of before setting actual goals. My diet is pretty healthy as of now due to the tips I have been given by my doctor. Fruits and vegetables are constantly in my diet as well as milk, cheese, breads and proteins. My weight as of today is 162 lbs. My weight before I got pregnant was 136 lbs. I have been advised that cardio is my best source of exercise while being pregnant but that I can implement any exercise I wish starting 6 weeks after my delivery. Knowing that the foods I intake are already in league with any health plan I choose is good to know. I eat three to four servings of each food group daily with the exception of bread and grains which I eat about 1-2 servings because breads contain high amounts of carb’s which my body does not utilize as well as I would like. I find that my weaknesses are not found so much in my eating habits but in my will power to exercise and that my body does not receive near the amount of liquids it needs. I eat enough healthy foods but I should cut back on foods with high amounts of sugars, caffeine and carb’s in general not because I eat to much of them or for my weight it is just a personal need due to the fact that these foods are not healthy…

During this project I decided to use my analytical skills to research on this subject before diving in unprepared. I researched what exercises I could do daily, and what foods I could eat to be healthy and as well as how to stay motivated throughout this journey. I was truly and honestly determined to begin and achieve this goal. There were many target behaviors I was determined on changing such as my phone use and procrastination. These two were the leading factors that lead to me failing and giving up the other times I attempted at improving my health and fitness management. I knew I had to cut down on my phone use and start facing things instead of pushing it off. To do this, I decided to create a schedule for my day, labeling when to do things and leaving small breaks in between for phone use during snack time. Limiting phone use and procrastination not only helped me with my goal, but also with other components of my life such as homework…
