12/20/2013 Dear 2014 freshman Hey guys my names is kendra melekwe, people usually call me Kenny . Im from Jackson nj and I attended Jackson memorial high school .I remember back in hignschool my faviorte thing was gym and all the activites we got to play . But anyway I’m now currently attending Occ , I choose ocean county college because of the oppuritunies it presents. Such as the low tution fee for one . My plan at occ is to major in broadcasting journalism finnish my first year with the best grades possible and then transfer to temple university. Ocean county has taught me a few new things about my self such as how to mange my time studying , and how to mange my money well.

Even though I’ve learned a lot of things while at ocean the transition wasn’t that smooth , I think the most diffuilct thing for me was having to rember my classes on my own . Its nothing like highschool where you had the bell to remind you when class was. Or the stress of not knowing anyone in class, or not wanting to raise your hand in class because you think people might make fun of you. But I’ve had a great support team. In my Acad class I’ve learned so much and my teacher Mrs.O explained everything cearly and always offered a helping hand whenever we her students needed it.

Ocean County has a lot of support services availbles to your disposable , Such as the student center. The student center has so many programs, clubs, and trips that inform you about what is going on in your own campus or around you. Then the one on one sessons with the guidance consuler who assit you with every question you have. Or the tutoring groups that assit with you with math , writing, science you name it, Occ was was built on the simple idea to help you succed.

Another thing ocean has helped me succed in was my learing methods. I leaned that im an auditory and tactile learner. Whicth simply means I learn by hearing and doing things hands on. I also learned that I study better with

First-generation students are the first in their families attend a post-secondary institution. They are more likely to face many challenges in university life and how they experience their higher education. “Within the institution, first-generation students may have lower levels of academic and social integration” (Billson and Terry, 1982), and have, as Terenzini and associates (1996) point out, “less positive out-of-class experiences than traditional students”. In fact, many research studies have found that first-generation students lack engagement in academic and social capacities, as for example, they don’t show their engagement in the learning and social experiences such as joining events, participating in classes, using support services,…

Residential schools were seen by the Canadian government as a way to civilize the native population and keep their children from continuing in their native traditions. In 1895 Rev Fr A.M Carion stated in a report from a residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia that the purpose of the residential school is to civilize the Indian and to make them good, useful and law abiding members of society with strict punishments for any wrong doings. 1 Richard Pratt, who founded the Carlisle Indian Industrial School, one of the first of the reservation schools in the United States, preached “you must kill the Indian in him; to save the man”. These ideals were later adopted by the Canadian government. 2 The goal of residential schools was to assimilate Aboriginals into white society through children since they were much more susceptible to influence. This research paper will focus on the residential school system and will argue that the Canadian government and churches committed genocide amongst the indigenous populations in an attempt to eliminate the native culture. It will focus on the history of residential schools in Canada, their intended targets, the health and quality of life of the Aboriginals attending these schools, the sterilization of Aboriginal women, those who succeeded in the school system, and what has changed since the opening of the schools.…

Do you think it is an good idea to make incoming freshmen commit to a career at a young age? Incoming freshmen are required to know what career they want to do. This is a good idea because when they come out of high school they won’t be confused on what career they want to pursue. Another way it is a good idea is they will be more focused in school because they are focused on trying to get to their career in order. I believe that committing to a career is a good idea because it could help young adults prepare for the work field. This is why I think incoming freshmen should commit to a career.…

Hi, I’m Suzzana, I think you know that by now. I’m currently attending Camden County College. I am transferring because as you might know, most community colleges are two year schools. Community College has been great for me. I was never achievement orientated when I was in grade school. I was enrolled in an alternative school since the 8th grade. I was behind in my academics, but I would like to say I compensate in life experience. When I was younger around the age of 9 I was bullied a lot. I was chubby and I increasingly gained weight at that time. My influx of weight was the baggage of my emotions and my families struggles. My parents divorced when I was 10, my mom was escorted out by police. I only had my dad for a year. Then, I had missed…

When I graduated high school, I knew that if I wanted to get ahead in life I was going to have to get into college. Not knowing exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up, made me worry about spending money on a traditional four year university. I realized that there were several cheaper options for a higher education were around my area. Starting my education at a community college seemed like the right step for me once I understood that the credits would all transfer to a university that I could choose at a later date. This was my first sensible step towards furthering my education. The problem was trying to decide which college to go to. I had to choose from Portland community college (PCC), Clackamas (CCC) or Mount Hood (MHCC). After sorting through the pros and cons, some of which were proximity to home and work, class availability and, helpful resources, it became clear which college was right for me. MHCC was my choice because it convenient for me.…

Unmanned drones are a generational step into military history; however the question whether the uses of these devices are making countries such as the U.S into a ‘Predator nation’ needs to be discussed. To determine this attribute the defining of a ‘Predator nation’ and discussion of the different aspects of the term becomes a key element of the discussion. The research into the American military system is important to see whether the U.S has become paranoid and is now overspending. Observing the countries that have been infiltrated by unmanned drones is essential in piecing together the nature of the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle). “It’s like living under a bomb that could go off at any time, and it’s the Americans doing it,”. The final aspect intention is why the American people and leaders feel that these Unmanned drones are really necessary and whether the drones are doing more harm than good. “This is a tough call. Drone warfare has done a lot of good for the U.S., and could cause Americans a lot of harm.”. These three viewpoints will draw in the conclusion whether the United Sates is in fact a predator nation.…

My name is Vincent Lowe and I’m a freshman here at Delaware. I’m originally from New Jersey born and raised and Delaware was my first choice for college. I have an older sister and I’m really into sports. My favorite teams consist of the Eagles, Pirates, 76ers, and Flyers; I have season tickets to the Eagles and I go to every game with my dad. I’m looking forward to rushing this semester, as I want to be a part of a fraternity here at Delaware, as I believe it will make me time here a lot more enjoyable. Next year I’m living in a townhouse with some of my friends as I’m pretty excited for that having my own place for the first time and living on my own means. It will be an adjustment but I’m looking forward to it. My family is really important to me and they always come first, I would do anything for them and I love spending time with them. My grades are really important to me as I try hard in school to get the best possible grades and become a successful student. Being a successful student will enable me to achieve a good job in the future and hopefully lead a successful life. Globalization triggered most of the companies expanded their business around world. Teams are working from different location with this change and have common goals and work structure. Without the time, cost and hazards of travel, groups can now share information, chat, innovate and make decisions together. There are challenges, however, inherent in the virtual team concept. It is difficult to build trust and to manage conflict when team members lack the ability to interact face- to-face. Communication is often more challenging, particularly among global virtual teams, which can also make it more difficult to overcome cultural barriers.…

In the United States, there are good places to live and bad places to live. There are rich cities and poor cities, strong cities and weak cities. Cities that need financial aid or ones that are economically comfortable. This same concept applies to other countries and even continents, such as Canada and/or Asia. In a continent, there are countries that are the best or worst places to live in. In countries, they are cities instead of countries. And as you can see, there are many possible combinations for this widespread topic, therefore, I chose Africa.…
