New Product Launch Marketing Plan, Part 1
Executive Summary
Apple, the iconic technology company, has continuously captured the cell phone market with its new and innovative features, products, and services. This iconic brand status has allowed them to maintain higher prices for the higher-quality products. However, the competition is quickly able to copy and then enhance new technological innovations, and is doing it at less-expensive prices than Apple. This has caused a shift in the cell phone market, and Apple is losing share. This marketing plan will identify and plan for the release of Apple’s newest product, the iPhone 5s, in domestic and international markets.
Situation Analysis
Market Summary
The target markets for iPhone 5s are the established and loyal Apple users, middle to upper income individuals with disposable income, those who like to have fun with technology, music fans ages 12-35, and professionals in media, design, and information technology (IT).
Market Needs
The target market requires new technology to keep them interested in a product. Faster processing speed, useful apps and features, and cutting-edge technology are features the market needs to be lured away from the competitor. Apple has made improvements in processor speed, camera resolution, and added security with a fingerprint-scanner that can unlock the phone with just a touch. A new feature, the "A7 Motion co-processor" chip, can track motion data continuously without heavily draining the battery. The chip opens the door for the iPhone to better track sports and fitness-related user activity.

Market Growth
Apple’s share of the market has slowed in the last few years as the sales of the Samsung Galaxy have taken market share. The market is numb to new cell phones. Now Apple hopes a “bigger emerging-market presence can help reverse a 29 percent fall in the company’s share price

Apple is continually on the cutting edge of technological advances in the cellular phone industry with better innovations to their products. The iPhone 5S® is the most recent technological advancement to the iPhone® with an improved camera, a next-gen CPU and motion tracking chip, and fingerprint sensors. Major drawbacks are that it still has the four inch screen like the original iPhones®, the fingerprint sensor only works with Apple applications at this time, the 64 bit A7 processor and the M7 motion-tracking chips do not have any “killer apps” yet, and the iOS 7 may boggle the minds of longtime iPhone users; the iPhone 5S is by far the fastest and most technologically advanced of the Apple SmartPhones® to date. By marketing the iPhone to select markets, Apple has been able to provide a device that meets or exceeds the market’s needs. In this deliverable, Team A Consultants, have been asked to provide a new marketing plan to embrace social media to increase sales. Apple targets certain groups and seems okay with not trying to dominate the entire cell phone industry. By using websites like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and LinkedIn, Apple can reach college students, adults, and like-minded professionals. All of these websites listed above already provide a B2B model for advertising to include in-depth analysis of the market being reached through social media advertising. By targeting college students, like-minded professionals, and a general adult group, Apple can ensure sales by providing products that meet their needs. Apple also constructs their product launches with a great product life cycle to maximize revenue and profits. By announcing a new product 6 months prior to launch, and then keeping a product into the height of its maturity, Apple can guarantee higher revenues.…

It comes as no surprise to know that Apple Inc. is a major player in some of the worlds’ most competitive markets, including the ever-expanding smartphone market. Apple first became involved with smartphones when they launched their iPhone in June of 2007. Four years later, Apple is now on their fourth model of the phone dubbed the iPhone 4. The product has been well received for its multi-purposeful media abilities, primarily the new “FaceTime” feature, which allows users to video chat with other consumers that also have an iPhone 4. This revolutionary mobile phone can make calls, play music, navigate the web, edit…

The design plays a huge role in cell phones, it has to grasp the buyers attention and make them want the product just by looking at it or by watching someone use it. The iPhone 5s does this really well, Apple engineers and designers managed to compress the technologies they made inside a space that’s a mere 7.6 millimeters thin and 112 grams light. This redesign resulted in an incredibly thin, impressively light, extraordinarily powerful smartphone. The engineering challenge was significant, but they succeeded in adding more to it without making iPhone 5s bigger or heavier. The iPhone began with something perfectly simple, your finger. And now Apple took touch to the next possible place with Touch ID, the fingerprint identity sensor. Your fingerprint is the perfect password, you always have it with you and no one can ever guess what it is. But beyond that, it just made sense that your phone should recognize you. It should learn you, not require you to memorize and enter passwords in order to use it. Apple also put the sensor in the best place possible, where you most commonly rest your thumb, on the Home button. It is amazing how Apple increased the speed of the iPhone 5s without decreasing the battery life, in fact, they increased the battery life. This is all true because Apple engineered a new processing chip. The A7 chip is designed around 64-bit architecture, which is a first for…

There’s some evidence that Apple Inc.’s strategy to increase its share of the fast-growing smart phone market in India may be working. Apple’s shipped 252,000 iPhones to India in the last quarter of 2012, three times the number in the previous three months, according to new data by Singapore-based mobile research firm Canalys. The figure was more than double from the same quarter a year earlier, the data showed. Apple launched the iPhone5 in India in November to coincide with the Hindu festival of Diwali, when consumers usually splurge on lifestyle products. At the same time, Apple changed its distribution strategy for India, aiming to get its product to a wider range of customers.…
