THE PURPOSE OF TOURISM PLANNING

INTRODUCTION
 Massive development of resources is the

consequence as millions more people travel to seek personal rewards from their experiences. As scenery and other natural resources are touted in promotion, the visitor often experiences more ugly commercialism than scenery.

 For Example- Coastal areas are promoted

clear water and pristine beaches, the visitors often discovers a concrete jungle of hotels and waterfront water sewage pollution.

if we dig deep we can discover the reason for unfullfillment of promises. Tourism development is being done by those who have little understanding of what tourism really is and how to plan & design it. HOW DO WE UNDERSTAND TOURISM?
Definition:
 According to the WTO Definition “Tourism comprises the activities of persons travelling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one year for leisure, business and other purposes.” Example:

WHAT IS TOURISM PLANNING?
Basically, tourism planning means to create an overview that will include the mission, goals, objectives and strategy and tools for the overall development of tourism in any country.
Tourism planning must involve –
 Mission, goals and objectives for both individual and country.  Different strategies and tools and choose the best among them.  Find out problems that can take place during the execution of plans and find feasible solution.
 During setting up any plans the tourism planners must be aware of the plan being flexible.
