To start off, as a potential member of the National Junior Honor Society, I’m very proud of…
Beginning in January, I have been taking volleyball lessons. At school, there is a program called Ram Buddies that I participate in. Ram Buddies is where an eighth grade student supports another eight grade student with special needs. In the end of January, the whole eighth grade was given a course selection booklet. I started thinking about my courses for high school.…
Success can be defined as the achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted (2013). Some say success it’s only a mere standard we strive for in order to compensate for the things we don’t have. However you may define success obviously everyone wants to live the American dream. With over 570 locations in the United States alone (Kurtz, 2012), I think it’s safe to say The Five guys fast food chains has surly discovered the key to success. Five guys have endured immaculate success not only because they have great burgers, but also because they have a philosophy that sets them apart from the competing fast food chains.…
The Boys and Girls club has been around since the early 1860s, and has a long history of inspiring young children to realize their ability to become productive and strong-willed people.…

I would like to begin by saying that I am honored to be a nominee for membership into the 2013 Senior Honor Society of York College of Pennsylvania. I take passion in my academic studies and my community involvement. The opportunity to be recognized for the impact I have made on my college and local community is truly flattering. After spending my first two years at Millersville University, I began my studies at York College in my third year of college as a junior. Living in Spring Grove, I made the decision to live at home, work a part-time job, and commute to York College. These factors are all things that could have impacted my campus-life involvement, but I was determined to not let these factors impact my college experience. I jumped head first into the York College Community and was accepted with open arms into whatever groups I wanted to become affiliated with on campus.…
Fundraising for a nonprofit organization in a weak economy is very uncertain; not many individuals or businesses have the financial means to lend money. Thus, it is imperative to use all approaches to fundraising. Fundraising for a nonprofit organization typically involves applying for loans, grants, and using other forms of government and public assistance. When implementing non-traditional approaches to fundraising, it is important to use every possible means of government assistance, community support, and family contribution methods because there are limited the country’s economic status.…
I believe that my acceptance into National Honor Society would not only further my chances to be a leader in my community, but also serve the community myself. On the flip side of that statement, I also think that my ability to be a successful leader will serve my fellow students well as a part of National Honor Society. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity, and I thank you for the time spent reading this…
The Honors Program grabbed my attention because it’s for academically outstanding students and I am that student. Throughout my years of high school, I have taken Advanced Placement and Honors classes and have done very well in them. Being average is not okay for me, I want to do my best and reach my fullest potential in everything I do. I like being challenged mentally and that is exactly what the Honors Program will do for me. In the Honors Program I will be able to engage in social and cultural seminars that I know I will thoroughly enjoy. I have been a part of Diversity Club where different cultures come together to share ideas, exchange food, and get to know more about each others’ culture, so I have an idea of what seminars are like. I am a very outgoing person and I love to meet and interact with new people so through these seminars and projects I will be able to do that. I would also like to get a broader perspective on the world and throughout the many different projects, I will gain that. I read about the Honors Program and what will be done throughout the four years and I thought to myself that this is where I belong, I will fit right in. I want to accomplish many things that this program will allow me to and greatness is what I would like to aim for. The Honors Program at John Carroll University brings together one of the most gifted, diverse, and active groups of people not only on campus, but in the country and I would like to be a part of that, something…
Entering into a new high school can be a bit nerve racking. There will be so many cliques around campus like the nerds, jocks, and druggies. Not being able to tell which one you may fit in will make high school more intimidating then it really is. How will you know what cliques are a good idea to join? Is it possible to be stuck between two cliques? For any new high schooler finding the right group of people is all it might take to get you through the four years.…
Why are nerds and geeks perceived so negatively in society? Nerds and geeks are known for their superior intelligence and social awkwardness. Whether a person is considered a nerd or a geek, that person has been given grief for as long he or she can remember. Since grade school, nerds are constantly teased and tormented. Years later, the nerds who dreaded going to the playground in fear of mockery are creating the technology we all can’t seem to live without. What would we do without our Smartphones and iPods? Nerds now have a shining light to them that everybody seems to find cool because of their miraculous inventions. Even those so called geeks who spend most of their time dedicated to a particular…
Joining the Honors college did not cross my mind for a long time in my research of Appalachian. I did not see myself capable of thriving within a possibly contentious community of highly intelligent people. However, as the deadlines began to tick down and the pressures of school were put on blast, I began to realize that the honors college was my strongest option. Since I was very little, competition and a healthy amount of academic pressure have brought out the best in me. Rather than wilting under the intensity, I rise up ready to face the challenges thrown my way. The honors college will stimulate my growth towards intellectual, personal, and professional achievement utilizing both friendly competition and social proliferation.…
The National Honors Society is more than just a honor roll, but an organization that recognizes the efforts made by hard working high school students. I would like to join National Honors Society because it would challenge my development in both my community and my school. The National Honors Society, consisting of over one million students, would make me a part of a large community that could create many opportunities for me in the future. A highly respected organization such as the National Honors Society is very significant to me. The scholarships and programs offered by this organization helps increase my ability to get the education that I desire that I might not have been able to receive due to the rapidly rising costs of college. Every…
I would be highly honored if I were to be accepted into NHS. When I heard of National Honor Society I knew right away that I wanted to become a part of it. Ever since I was a young child, I remember seeing my friends and family members proudly receive awards and recognitions for their hard work because of this, I too wanted to be like them. I am a very hard-working student and I love to gain knowledge of new things every day, and even though neither of my parents had the privilege to receive an education, I hope to go to college. Most of my family members from my father's side of the family either dropped out or weren’t able to finish school, so I will be the first to finish high school and to attend college.…
My most outstanding academic achievement is tried for a encouraging academic scholarship at university in 2011. Its value isn’t so high, only 2 million VND, but so meaningful to me. At that time, I took part in many social and extracurricular activities so I didn’t have much time for studying. My grade point average had fluctuated from 7.5 to 7.9 before. And at the sixth semester, I tried my best to prove my ability; surprisedly, 8.44 is this semeter’s GPA. After that I learned: the passion and determination will make a success tomorrow.…
