James Holmes is portrayed as evil, described as being an animal, as well as being severely mentally ill. He compares with the stereotype of other mass shooters because all mass shooters have a well thought out plan on what they do and where they go once they commit the crime and that is exactly what he did. The one thing that separates him from the exact stereotype is that he was completely calm and felt no need to rush even when he was approached by law enforcement as he was taking his time to get away from the scene. James Holmes basically committed premeditated manslaughter. This man absolutely fits the profile associated with shooters. To begin with, the man was already not mentally stable and he committed such a heinous…

    Stewart Hall Stereotypes

Within the fashion industry, models have the ability to convey messages through appearing on the runway shows. As we have previously mentioned that the industry is dominated by non-coloured individuals, the sea of white women that we constantly see in the industry has demonstrated the message of hegemonic power of whiteness. Stewart Hall’s article, “Racist ideologies and the media,” examines racist ideologies within the media. Hall’s theories can establish the meaning behind Marshal McLuhan’s iconic testimonial conveying that “the medium is the message.” Hall uses the term ideology “to those images, concepts ad premises which provide the frameworks through which we represent, interpret, understand and ‘make sense’ of some of social existence” (Hall, 18).…

Pretend you are driving along on the highway. You see a person on the side of the road having car problems. This is person is wearing an Armani suit and driving a Porsche. The next day, you encounter the same incident but, this time, it is a man wearing baggy jeans with holes in them, a dirty shirt and he looks very unclean. Would you be more likely to stop for the man in the Armani suit, or the the second man? I know that I would stop for man #1. The reason I and most of our society would do so, is because we have a horrible habit. The habit is unintentional and we do it not meaning to hurt anybody This habit is stereotyping people by the way they look or talk based on what society considers normal. In the book, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Scout, Atticus and Tom Robinson are victims of being stereotyped by others. Each has to cope with being stereotyped. Scout and Atticus have the ability to change their ways in order for people to respect them, unlike Tom Robinson, who is stereotyped as a mutant to the town of…

    Sweeney Todd Stereotypes

My greatest artistic experience is playing the role of Sweeney Todd. It was the hardest role I’ve ever played. I got to play Sweeney Todd at fifteen years old. I was about to finish my freshman year of high school. I don’t believe many other actors get the opportunity to play a role as diverse as Sweeney Todd. The background research I did on the character was incredible. To become a murderer and live what Sweeney went through was extremely difficult. One reason was because I’d never loved someone in that way before. In order for me to gain that emotional experience, I had to put my own mother in the scenario. I also never felt revenge or rage in that kind of way before. My director was able to get that out of me over the month of character…

Many people would say that the ABC series Once Upon a Time is a lousy show, is unrealistic, and does not make sense or follow a good storyline; but over its first six seasons, Once Upon A Time has stolen my heart time and time again for many reasons. These writers and the creators of this show Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have re-created many people's favorite scenes from their favorite movies like Prince Charming finding snow white and Waking her up with true love's kiss, or beauty and the beast dancing together, and they brought so many favorite and new characters to the show unlike anything before. The writers changed classical fairy tale stereotypes, they give the villains a chance at happy endings, and a deeper backstory than usual,…
