Online Learning Environment Navigation Guide

Introduction
Learning how to navigate the online classroom environment is essential to your academic success. GCU’s Learning Management System (LMS) LoudCloud and the GCU Web site have many resources to help you become a successful graduate student.

Directions
View the LoudCloud Walk to Class Tutorial as well as search LoudCloud to find answers to the first 9 questions below. Search the GCU Web site for answers to the second set of 10 questions below. You should complete the guide while navigating LoudCloud and the GCU Web site.

Use this completed guide to assist you when completing the “Navigating the Online Learning Environment Quiz” due at the end of Module 1.

LoudCloud Questions

1. List the tabs and other items on the screen when you first enter a course in LoudCloud. Home-Calendar-Tasks-Resources-Connect-Reports-Announcements Calendar- weekly assignments Forums-Assignments-Announcements-performance
2. From the course home page in LoudCloud, click on the “Tasks” tab and then click on “Forums”. Make notes on the various forums and their purposes. -Main forum-DQ questions and responses -Individual forum -Questions to instructor forum
3. Under the Resources Tab, inside the Student Success Center, click on the Writing Center link. What writing style is required for most 500-level courses at GCU? -APA 6th edition style

4. Under the Resources Tab, inside the Student Success Center, click on the Support Services tab at the top. List the services available under this tab. -Financial aid-technical support-library-tutoring

5. Under the Resources Tab, inside the Student Success Center, click on the Succeed at GCU tab at the top. Click on the GCU Tutorials link. What tutorials are available for students at this link? -research assistance: library-writing and research tools -classroom assistance: online learning, cla, student support services and portal

    The University of Phoenix’s classes that I am taking are all online. I start by accessing the Internet and logging into my ecampus student home page. There I am able to access my classes and see all my needed tools listed under each class. One of the main items you have at the University of Phoenix is your participation grade. You earn that grade by completing discussion questions and participating in discussions in the electronic forum. The electronic forum consists of the Main forum, the Chat room and the Course Materials forum. In those forums you will find all of your discussions. The discussion topics are all threaded discussions so you are able to follow each topic easily. One of the things I like about the electronic forum, is that you receive feedback from not only your professors, but all so your peers. This feedback is helpful for me to learn about the others views as well as mistakes or corrections I need to make. With my busy schedule the part of the University of Phoenix that best suits me is that your course work falls under the Asynchronous communication model. This way I am able to complete my course work at anytime during the week no matter what part of the world I am in. It gives me the flexibility to be able to attend college unlike the traditional Synchronous communication style of schooling.…
