Native American Genocide Stage
The Native Americans had it rough; they were very disliked by many people. The first

stage was the classification, the Native American, on October 14, 1492; Columbus arrived in the

new world with domination in mind for the natives with 50 men. Columbus was looking for gold

and riches. When he was able to find the natives he decided to use it to his advantage.

The second stage was Symbolization; this was definitely a cruel stage. They would take

their clothes away. They would have to go around as naked as their mothers bore them, and also

all the women. This shows symbolization because their clothes symbolize freedom. When you

wear clothes you are seen as a person, people are being treated like animals. They are not even

The natives lived their lives peacefully with their own way of thinking and

traditions. Settlers saw them as savages in need of saving. On March 22, 1622

Openchancanough and the Powhatan Indians attacked the plantations around Jamestown.

The last stage I’m doing is Preparation, natives faced harsh conditions. High death rates

resulted from disease, starvation, and extremely harsh conditions during relocation.

The Native Americans had it rough, no matter how many times they would cry and complain the

Europeans had no mercy. The term Genocide is Latin and means the killing or murder of any

tribe. The genocide was not just huge slaughtering of Native Americans; it also known as a

disease of the Europeans that killed the Native Americans. The Europeans killed the Indians for

land in North America as they tried to expand their territory. The war between the Europeans

and Native Americans lasted several years, it was on and off from the 1600's through the early

1900's. The feud was eventually won by the colonists. The Europeans saw the Native Americans

as animals, or less than an animal. The death toll was 95,000,000 to 114, 000,000, it’s crazy to

see how many people died because of diseases, slaughtering or needless

The Spanish had the new world like a “ATM machine” because they took vast amounts of gold and silver from the native people. At that time all the countries had a philosophy that the country with the most gold had the most power. For that reason the English when to the northern new world to try to find the same wealth.…

Native Americans have always received the short end of the stick in history, when the colonialist came to what is now known as America, the people of the land where shown in a different light. They became the stories of terror and fear for the colonist to be afraid of, however this was not done in one night know this spans over a time of great explores and those who became American literalness, those who detailed history in documents and trades. Using works from John smith and William Bradford in their tales and encounters with Indians, the light and representation of the natives might become clear. Both authors had completely different experiences during their times in the new-found land.…

Smallpox is the disease that killed most Natives; second was measles, then influenza, and then lastly the Plague/Black Death. There was no cure for the disease at the time, and the cramped conditions with very little food and improper hygiene when the Natives were enslaved only exacerbated the effects of smallpox, killing virtually all of them. The native people were more vulnerable to this plague than the Spanish because they hadn’t built up any immunity to this disease. Humans who live in close contact with domestic animals, like the Europeans who kept their animals inside of their houses, are at a greater risk to contract diseases (zoonotic diseases). Diseases such as smallpox (which wiped out Native Americans by the millions) were transmitted from human to human, however; the Natives hadn't built up any immunity to these zoonotic diseases because the only domestic animal in the Americas was the llama.…

The American History was built under several wars, people suffering, and religious conflicts. Starting with Christopher Columbus’ first voyage to the Asian continent in 1492, his plans were to find a huge amount of wealth to make Spain rich, and also bring the Christianity to the new land. Frustrated in fail while trying to find Asian, instead he found the American continent. Such fact Columbus began to act aggressive towards Native Americans, enslaving and forcing them to look for gold. After Columbus’ death in 1506, Spain would send more soldiers known as conquistadores to the American continent in order to find more wealth. Later on, France and England would also led expeditions to the American continent in order to establish a foothold. Because Europeans started to migrate to America, they found many cultural differences and opposite beliefs that made Europeans and Native Americans fight for a long time until they found an agreement.…

The masses of Native deaths got this the title of being a genocide. Even though this was not intentional. The Europeans were actually puzzled as to why the Natives got so sick from these diseases. They had no clue that they had brought dangerous pathogens with them to the New World. The Natives were not immune, unlike the Europeans. The Natives had never been exposed to the diseases. That made them have weak immune…

Determining who is and isn't a member of a tribe, or Native American, can be complicated, and the answers don’t always come in a simple "yes" or "no." Part of the reason such determinations can be controversial is because tribes' own rules for establishing membership can vary widely. And many tribes use parentage as a means of defining membership. Known as "blood quantum," the practice defines tribal membership according to the degree of "pure blood" belonging to that tribe.…
