National Spanish Honor Society Narrative Report

This year, my first year in Color Guard and Marching Band, I’ve learned discipline and what it means to be a part of something bigger than me. Working with the other girls on guard, we work as a team to learn our routines and how to stay in sync with our flags which takes a lot of hard work and repetition. During our long, strenuous rehearsals, it is important to stay focused and pay attention to directions. By setting an example for the younger members, I hope to show them what it takes to be successful in what we do, because it cannot be done without a huge amount of commitment and pride to represent West and our Marching Band program.

National Spanish Honors Society In order to apply for National Spanish Honors Society (NSHS) last year, I was required to compile several service hours in which I had to help others through Spanish. I decided to tutor my fellow classmates and even teach them some concepts they were very unsure about. Through tutoring for several weeks I was able to attain all of my minutes but I was also able to help others understand the language better. I am also in the process of applying this year for NSHS, and I plan on tutoring and volunteering once more.
I primarily helped teach other students various algebra 1 concepts along with geometry when I could. Being a Freshman tutor, I was limited to those I was able to help but I was able to tutor several students a week and it also helped me reteach myself older concepts I had forgotten.
