National Right To Life Interest Group
Tashawn Williams

The groups website that I chose is www.NRLC.org

The issues that my group is concerned with is protecting and defending the most fundamental right to humankind which is the right to life of every innocent human being from the beginning of life to the natural death. They are protecting and fighting for unborn babies and born, people with disabilities, and people who can't fend for themselves or who are vulnerable. They are against abortion, assisted suicide, euthanasia, infanticide, and the killing of unborn children for their stem cells.

Some actions the NRLC take to influence policy and public agenda are playing a big role in state and federal legislation regulating and restricting abortion, and has been instrumental in restricting government funding of abortions to poor women. They have a Political Action Committee that endorses and campaigns for candidates who support its agenda, which include opposition to some forms of Birth Control as well as physician-assisted suicide. The NRLC has more than 7 million members, with 3,000 local chapters and 50 state affiliates. It is headquartered in Washington, D.C and has annual budgets of more than 9 million. This interest group has lobbied for federal legislation banning partial-birth abortions. This act remained the highest priority of the NRLC, which has helped secure state legislation banning the abortion procedure in 17 states. They operate four outreach programs; National Teens for Life, American Victims of Abortion, National Pro-Life Religious Council, and Black Americans for Life.

NRLC strengths are its number of diverse members. Its educated members is also a big strength because they provide the base of its citizens who call or write their elected representatives and help us pass vital legislation.
A weakness of NRLC is that they still have not been able to get legislation to make all abortion illegal in all 50 states.

Abortion has been a heavily debated political, ethical, and moral dispute continuing for more than a decade after it was legalized in the United States in January 22, 1973. This decade long debate between “pro-life” activists and “pro-choice” activists usually stem from ones ethical and moral values of whether it is right to surgically or medicinally terminate a fetus and the extremes, like death of the mother, which could occur from the pregnancy. In this debate, I would view myself as a “pro-choice” activist because I firmly believe that abortion should continue to be legal to decrease the number of unintended mothers, broken or single parent families, and family poverty.…

Back in the 1970’s people rebuked the idea of Planned Parenthood. When they thought of it, the thought of abortion was directly connected. In all actuality, you would be surprised at how wrong they are. It is said that above 90 percent of the institutions population have terminated pregnancies, but really only three percent of the entire amount of women getting assistance partake in the procedure. Although, only three percent of the nation’s babies are aborted by Planned Parenthood, pro-life supporters still believe that is enough to terminate the program. To follow through with such a request would not only not decrease the abortion rate but it will also lead these women into the back alleys and liquor sanitized, home-made surgical tools. To rid the program is only asking to endanger hundreds of lives, especially the new lives brought into the world unwanted. The newborn who reminds her mother of the rape she experienced every single time she looks into her little eyes is an injustice…

As an organization we decided not to support abortion options but will provide the information when requested and referrals of who they can contact. The organization is a nonprofit agency that puts our funding into classes, counseling and tools for the mothers in need. One thing we should start to pay attention to is the fathers of the babies that are born into the world. There is a lack of guidance that the community offered expected fathers to be and that should be something we address and become part of our process in reaching out. Ignoring an issue that might happen can only cause a snowball effect throughout a community.…

Blurb: Health care debate is driving many young feminists to fight for abortion rights. Insurance companies are now trying to refuse payment towards abortions. I am writing to you about my concerns pertaining a bill, “Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2017”. Although there have been unsuccessful attempts to defund Planned Parenthood in the past, with the current state of the political climate, I now feel that it is important to voice my concerns if the bill should pass. I find that the problems this bill proposes goes beyond the pro-life, pro-choice debate and can be problematic to spending, equality and many other issues.…

The organization has almost 700 facilities across the U.S. which are designed to provide screens and tests for cancer, contraception, and information about sexually transmitted diseases. Planned Parenthood’s foremost task is carrying out abortions of the innocent unborn. Using sterile language, Planned Parenthood describes abortions as the, “prevention of unplanned pregnancies and family planning.” (Planned). Planned Parenthood completes almost 516,000 ‘pregnancy preventions’ years. The second task of Planned Parenthood is to educate teens, men, and women on sexually transmitted diseases and basic sex education. They reach around 1.5 million people a year through outreach programs, classroom seminars, traveling to high school classrooms, and health centers. They are in a constant battle for more federal support in Congress, the Supreme Court, and the media. Lastly, Planned Parenthood provides services in Latin American countries and Africa to help women who have no access to essential reproductive health services. They try to set up facilities that can provide necessities and education for women who have no access to these things because of poverty or a hostile environment. (Who). However, there is still more to learn about the first goal of Planned Parenthood: prevention of unplanned pregnancy. An abortion according to, Abortioneducation.com, is…

The National Organization for women (NOW) was founded in 1966 to help and encourage women to participate in exercising their rights as human beings. Today it is the largest feminist organization in the world. Women in America today share most of the same rights and privileges as men, but it wasn’t always that way. Women were discriminated against and have fought hard with the help of organizations such as NOW, to gain respect and rights as equal citizens of this country. The photograph on the bottom of the poster was taken from www.NOW.org and features the original founders of the organization. Founders wrote a Statement of Purpose, which according to the organizations website, describes the purpose as “To take action to bring women into full participation in the mainstream of American society now, exercising all privileges and responsibilities thereof in truly equal partnership with men.”…

“Planned Parenthood traces its origins to 1916, when Margaret Sanger, an American nurse, opened the first birth control clinic in the United States” (Mezey 515). Margaret Sanger had the idea of opening the birth control clinic because of the supposedly great increase in overpopulation. Throughout the journey of Planned Parenthood, the organization has broken numerous laws in order to get what they want. “PPFA has challenged abortion laws around the nation, and its attorneys have argued many important cases in the state and federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States” (Mezey 515). This passage shows that Planned Parenthood would and will do anything to get what they want and when they want it and any opposition will be overcome at all costs. This organization transitions from breaking laws, to being troubled as to a sudden increase in population. People began to believe the rumors and studies that there was a population overgrowth which also created an increase of abortions. “The history of concern over the uncontrolled growth of populations is as old as recorded history, but it was not until about the 1950s that fears over a rapidly expanding world population came to be combined with fertility practices on the family level” (Britannica 498). Though Planned Parenthood’s plans are extremely immoral from any point of view, they still have multiple followers and strong believers in this…
