National Honors Society Induction Essay
There are three essential areas that help to define humanity. These are the quality of one's character, one's service and leadership, all which help to shape the future. I try my best each day to fulfill the requirements of character through service and leadership. Character allows people to know each other, as it is the definition of the roles that humans play in the life cycle. Loyalty, determination, optimism, and honesty are very important traits that create one's character. I learned this at my family kitchen table , where conversation and wisdom are dished out with our meal. These are the virtues that allow me to fulfill my life journey.

Bringing people together encouraging human unity is a gift. Participating in service demonstrates that a person cares for others. There is no measurement for service to society, it is what helps to make the world a better place. I provide service regularly at my church, City Of Faith Church Of God. The congregation inspires me to give as much of me to them, as I possibly can. Working at. The church food pantry brings me joy.feeding citizens who are without the basics, food, and seeing the look of relief on their faces is one of the greatest experiences. Additionally, preparing for the culmination of "Child's Month Celebration" has been a lot of fun. Designing the logo based on the theme of "Be A Winner and Join The Race" was a fulfilling role. As a nominee of the National Honors Society , my mind overflows with ideas of how we can serve in our community. Some tasks we can fulfill include visiting the elderly. I am certain that they would appreciate and enjoy us going to read and/or listen them. Helping to clean our school environment would also be a good use of our service. In addition, I believe that academic tutoring from members of the Honors Society to students at NFA, other schools in the district, and the public library would be very useful and effective. Our service is important and would be very effective in our

I am honored to be considered among the superior academic students at MCC and to be applying to the National Honor Society. If I am accepted into the National Honor Society, a service obligation that I would like to propose is collecting items for the babies and mothers in the Genesis House here in Melbourne. The Genesis House is a donation run organization that not only helps pregnant mothers, but also mothers who have newborns or young toddlers. I feel that this project would make an impact on many people’s lives. Most people in our world today believe that people in the Genesis House of Melbourne are fine because they have the volunteers there to support and care for them which sadly, isn’t always the case.…

Throughout my school years, I have always wanted to help in the community and make an impact to others therefore when entering my freshman year, I joined many different clubs but one stood out to me which was Key Club assists students in carrying out its mission to serve the children of the world. In the club, we do many acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. We also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and more so. It provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. One thing that impacted me from doing community work was the Eliminate Project which is a campaign to raise $110 million to eliminate…

Spelman College’s motto, A Choice to Change the World, mirrors my goal as a member of this intellectual community. During my first year at this institution, I dedicated myself to several hours of community service. I found that this was a vital part of my intellectual growth as both a student and person within society. This year I volunteered for several nonprofit organizations, however I dedicated most of my time to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Before volunteering for this organization I was not quite sure how I would be able to make a significant difference in my community. However, when I volunteered for this organization, I was able to tremendously help people in Atlanta. Likewise, this experience opened my eyes to the increasing…

None of the elders had to play bingo, they just wanted to and it made them happy. Another service that I did was through church and I helped clean elderly peoples yards in the spring because it’s hard for them to do. It is important for an officer to have this trait because it shows leadership. It shows that they are willing to put others before themselves and help the community. Officers are leaders of the FFA groups so by doing service projects it not only looks good to the community and the chapter it reflects on…

The components of citizenship, community service, academics, work and home life, and extracurricular actives help me shine as a well-rounded individual. As an involved and caring citizen in the Union Township community, I do my best to make my mark. Displaying a good role as a citizen through community service has been a value I possessed ever since I could remember. At a young age, I started to serve my community with my parents at both school and church events and it has stuck with me since. Through community service such as being an assistant teacher in St. Veronica’s Religious Education Program, Glen Este High School’s member of National Honors Society, and Key Club, I not only helped out Union Township but I have also made new relationships and feel good about myself. Community service always makes me feel better because I know I’m helping others and making my mark through the friends I have made through both of these service programs.…

I was awarded a wonderful education at Windham High School, but beyond the information I retained, I also learned what is important in life. At first, I thought all that mattered was the clothes you wore, what makeup you had on, and who you were friends with. There is more to life than all that. I love helping others and my induction into the National Honor Society allowed me to do just that, especially in my four service projects I had the opportunity to lead and be a part of. I try to please people and make sure they are always happy and I now know it is most important to give back to the community who gave me so much.…

The human virtue and associated character strengths that I chose as important to me is Humanity. The reason why I chose this one is because I feel that love and kindness are the center point for other virtues. Imagine the way I look at it, as humanity being the center of virtues and leading to other virtues and character strengths. Love is one of the most important things in this world and kindness is rare but important. One very well-known person who often demonstrated acts of kindness and love is Mother Theresa. Many people have heard of her and are aware of her kindness. Some people have even idolized her because of her well-known status as a so-called “do-gooder.”…

I look exactly like my older sister Michelle. You’d sometimes think we were twins if not for the seven year gap and the one inch height difference. What that seven year separation doesn’t show in our faces, it makes up for in our experiences. The situation worked in my favor; Michelle went through various life stages years ahead of me, allowing her to share her “Now that I look back on it” wisdom with me. Because of this, my sister took it upon herself to guide me through adolescence. I am eternally grateful to have had her to support and care through our tumultuous childhood.…

As a student of the UIC's Honor College I believe that I will bring new innovative ideas to my fellow students and to those around me. I not only will aspire to better myself, but to encourage those around me to be the best student they can be. As the youngest sibling I have endured through many challenges. From struggling to explain my opinion about a subject in a way that will back up my reasoning to asserting my role as a leader. Although at times I have felt like giving up, I have prevailed. I learned how to state my opinion in a way that is informative, yet not rude. One challenge that I felt I excelled in exceptionally is being a leader. I have immersed myself in multiple school activates that leadership is a necessity. I am currently the president of the twelfth grade book club and a board member of the Senior Committee. With the skills that I have learned as a result of those positions I will be able to implement them in the classroom and in school events. As a student of UIC’s Honor College I plan to make use of all the advantages given to me. With the benefits provided to me I plan to take advantage of the honor courses that apply to Physical Therapy. I would also like to study abroad if I were given the opportunity to because I believe that you can learn a lot by immersing yourself in different cultures. It would be an honor for me to take part in the Honor College as a tutor because as a student who has had the experience of being both a tutor and a student I know that it can be a rewarding experience.…

National Honor Society members complete community service, and I chose to volunteer at Belleville Area Humane Society. My time there has introduced me to amazing people with an abundance of love for animals and humans alike, and they’ve taught me that a strong work ethic is deeply important; whatever I set my mind to, even if it’s cleaning an infinite number of litter boxes, I should do it to the best of my…

I had no intention of becoming involved in community service. As a high school sophomore, I was required to complete five hours of volunteer work in order to join the National Honor Society. I cleaned and organized bookshelves at my local library, and that was that. Over the next year, I volunteered with school cleaning, dance set-up, and other events not out of graciousness or compassion, but solely to maintain my NHS membership. However, as a junior, a teacher nominated me for the United Way Youth Board of Baldwin County, Alabama. Youth Board, an organization designed to encourage volunteer work among adolescents, completely changed my perspective and fostered in me a passion for community service. With this organization, I was able to collect children's books, install free libraries around my community, organize a food bank, and raise both monetary support and awareness for the United Way. As well, it inspired me to start knitting preemie hats, become a lead volunteer at my local library, and…

First-Year Service Day was an amazing opportunity for us to demonstrate the Berry College motto, “Not to be ministered unto, but to minister.” It was a very gratifying process and I can only guess that Martha Berry would have been as proud of us as I was. My hope is that we inspired at least one person who drove past us picking up garbage to make a difference in their community and that their actions will inspire others to get involved as well and so on until everyone is lending a hand to their community; the world would become a beautiful utopia of everybody caring about more than just…
