National Honor Society Personal Statement The National Honor Society (NHS) of River Hill is a large and proud organization, with multitudes of intelligent, motivated, and caring members. It holds the values of scholarship, character, leadership, and service in very high esteem. I believe that through joining NHS, I could help make a great impact on River Hill society by promoting such values. I find great importance in these four "pillars," and am ready to uphold them at all costs. In my years at River Hill High School, I have always exerted my utmost effort to maintain a high level of scholarship. My freshman year, I received a 4.0 unweighted GPA in every single quarter, and ended the year with a 4.79 weighted GPA. In my sophomore year, I received a 4.93 weighted GPA, and again a 4.0 unweighted. I always try to challenge myself by choosing difficult classes. Last year, I took three Advanced Placement courses, three GT courses, and one honors course. This year, I am taking six Advanced Placement courses, along with one honors. Whether it be helping with school decorations, planting trees in the garden, or cleaning up garbage, doing service allows me to both aid my community and to know exactly how I am aiding it. It is for this reason that I enjoy community service. Often, I will sign up to help with small, individual community events. For example, a few weeks ago, I allocated six hours to help set up and operate various activities at the River Hill Community Health Fair. I am also a member of the American Red Cross, and frequently help blood donors at the Columbia Red Cross Blood Donor Center. Whether it be helping the community learn more about health, or helping facilitate blood donations to the needy, I know exactly how I help in community
