National Honor Society Leadership Analysis
Character, service, and leadership all seem to be connected through one common concept; fostering a positive community in all aspects. If accepted into National Honors Society, I will uphold the ideals of “leadership, service, and character” through continued volunteer work, using the opportunity to serve others in my community, and use my position within the Society to be a catalyst for change.

If accepted, I intend to uphold the leadership aspect of the National Honor Society by contributing in meaningful ways to my community. I feel as though I have created forward momentum already by getting out in my community. This is shown through my time involved in 4-H, the leadership positions I held within it (President and Secretary), and the volunteer initiatives I have led in the past. In my opinion, a leader also needs the ability to be open-minded and independent; qualities I think are ingrained in myself. Compassion then becomes an overwhelming part of one's character. Heraclitus once uttered the words, “Character is destiny”. I firmly believe that compassion and humanity for others practiced regularly, has the opportunity to change the destiny of not only the individual, but also the environment in which they exist. As a part of National Honor Society, it is my personal goal to encourage my fellow classmates and neighbors alike to get out in our community and be of assistance to others.

I believe that my acceptance into National Honor Society would not only further my chances to be a leader in my community, but also serve the community myself. On the flip side of that statement, I also think that my ability to be a successful leader will serve my fellow students well as a part of National Honor Society. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity, and I thank you for the time spent reading this

During high school, I committed most of my free time to my NJROTC unit and my 4-H club. In both of these organizations, community service, leadership, citizenship, and initiative are indispensable values that are essential to their functioning, and I like to think I have learned to embody these traits. In 4-H, I have attended, and then went on to teach, numerous leadership and group trainings. In NJROTC, I attended the Area 5 Leadership Academy, graduated as the Second Honor Cadet of the 2014 Academy, and was selected to be an Aide for the 2015 Academy. I held, or currently hold, leadership positions in both organizations and I feel I set a good example for my peers and subordinates. Through any task, I am enthusiastic about my job and…

Hello, I’m Caroline Woodle and I feel that I would be a propitious member of National Honor Society. This organization does an incredible job of recognizing students who are leaders in their communities. In my opinion, the most influential part of a person is their character. Activities such as competitive dance, FFA, and youth leadership events continuously reinforce my values of honesty and hardwork. Giving to and inspiring others are two of the most important parts of my life. Numerous Midwest mission trips revealed to me the responsibility and desire I have to serve others. During these work trips, my youth group and I met with dozens of people who had devastating stories of natural disasters that had completely destroyed their homes and…

Last year, part of the group and I went to a leadership conference. The leadership conference also helped me look a leadership in a different way. The speakers taught me what it takes to be a great leader. During the conference I learned that every leader has six characteristics and they are resilience, flexibility, communication, courage, humility and presence, and responsibility. I feel that I have almost all of those characteristics and that if the National Honor Society makes these characteristics its main focus, we can accomplish anything we face. If I were accepted into National Honor Society, I would try my best to be one of the best leaders in our school because we need great leaders. Also, I would pour my heart and soul into this group because I care for everyone in the school, and whenever I see anyone struggling, I try my best to help that person and that situation, without causing even more problems for that person. In addition, I would put the other student’s needs in front of my own because that was great leaders do. I would try my best to get involved with my community and the people in it. I would try to start service projects to further our…

I was part of the Future Leaders of York program in 2016. The program is for high school sophomores and juniors from York county. “FLY” taught me how to be a lifelong, responsible, and active leader in my hometown community. The program ran from September to May and included 6 day-long sessions, an opening retreat, and several special interest sessions. Throughout the year, I read from Leading with Character by John Sosik. Sosik explained that their are 6 types of effective leader characteristics: humanity, wisdom, transcendence, temperance, courage, and justice. Each session focused on these aspects of leadership. My experience was incredibly informative as it helped me grow personally and it prepared my for my future endeavors.…

In my school, I am a vital member of our television program and I am the “go to guy” for unknown problems or difficult tasks. My school also has a Technology Students Association (TSA) chapter and in my junior year of high school I was the vice president. In my senior year I am running for president. I am also a member of our National Honors Society chapter and will help lead and guide new member into a new year of service. In addition to these, I was selected by the school as the student of the month. From there, the nearby Rotary International club sponsored me to go to a leadership training camp at Messiah College over the summer. It was there that I learned a lot about leadership and that it is more than just leading people but it is serving them.
