It is a great honor to be nominated in an esteemed club of NBTHS, which idolizes the importance of academic excellence and values leadership, service and character. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society would not only mark an achievement in my high school career, but would also reflect the hard work and effort I have put into maintaining my grades and developing a respectable character. The NHS gives me a great opportunity to help the community and display my character to its full potential. As a student, academics has been one of my top priorities and maintaining a certain grade in each of my classes has been an objective that I have done to the best of my ability to complete. If I get selected into NHS that objective will be justified and I will acquire more opportunities to improve my community and share my knowledge with others in NHS. After not getting accepted into National Junior Honor Society in middle school I made it a goal that in high school I would possess the attributes to get into NHS. NHS provides a great platform for me to give back to the community (from community service) and share/further develop my

I observed different kinds of childbirths and pregnancies. One particular birth stood out to me where the lady was homeless after suffering from domestic abuse. I was able to see the empathetic and professional way midwives have to deal with those situations. By keeping calm I was able to communicate with the women and calculate the dynamics of the situation, doing simple jobs like offering water and assisting the midwives with medicines. In a place that was an unfamiliar environment for me I feel I was able to adapt and fit well into the team. Another circumstance where I showed the NHS values was whilst volunteering in Sri Lanka, working with underprivileged children and teenagers teaching them dance, arts, and crafts. At times it was difficult to communicate with them as they spoke little English, however, through the use of hand signals and my own body language I built relationships with them that I will never forget. I feel this demonstrates by ability to make strong connections with a wide range of people which will help when supporting the mothers. I also went on World Challenge, trekking across Iceland, which I funded myself. My role within the team was to lead them on trails through the mountains, where I was able to express my good sense of leadership. All these experiences have strengthened my resolve to become a…

Since its establishment, the National Honor Society has been built upon the core values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Throughout the years, National Honor Society has upheld these pillars, and its outstanding club members strive to embody these values in every aspect of their lives. However, these four principles add up to become something much more over the course of National Honor Society’s lifetime -- its legacy. These four honorable tenets are what constitutes a legacy, and I wish to become an individual who represents all of these core values -- and more. I genuinely believe that I exemplify most of the qualities that National Honor Society values, and though I am aware that I am still lacking in some, I will work…

The four pillars of the NHS are scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. I am proud to say that these are exemplified in my life through my challenging course load and experiences. Throughout my years as a student, the experiences and challenges that life has thrown at me have built me into who I am today. Before I started my high school career, I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. I started taking AP classes as early as my freshman year, and have only taken more since then. My enrollment into the Gifted program has given me opportunities to expand on my intellectual growth, including the Biology Olympiad and American Math Competition. Brains, however, are only a piece of the puzzle; it’s how a person acts that makes…
