Ninja Story

My best friend and I have been best friends since 4th grade. Growing up a few houses away from each other we were always getting ourselves into some sort of trouble and turning the neighborhood upside down. Even to this day we are partners in crime doing the craziest things together. One fall day after school I get a message from her and it was a tutorial on how to make a ninja mask out of a black t-shirt. Obviously us being us we had to try it. So I go find a black shirt and try it out. Not gonna lie, I thought it was pretty cool. A couple minutes later I hear a knock at my door, it was Shannon and her little brother Reed, who was my little brother, Tony’s, best friend. They were dressed in all black and their faces were covered in none other then, ninja masks. They came inside and were telling Tony and I how they got here. Running through people’s yards, hopping fences, rolling through bushes. Being bored and trying to avoid doing homework anyway possible, I don’t know why but we decided that it would be a good idea to dress in all black, put on our homemade ninja masks and run around town. So my brother and I changed into all black and off we went, four figures dressed in all black, faces covered with just our eyes showing, running down the street, through yards, over fences, and summersaulting through our neighbors yards until we arrived at our destination, the park at the end of our street. When we got to the park we just went to town. We were climbing the swings, trees, slide, soccer goal posts, basically anything we could find. In the midst of all our fun and having a great time, we didn’t notice right away when two police cars pulled up to both entrances of the park basically containing us in the park grounds. Once we noticed a cautious looking policeman was approaching us, we came out from the bushes, climbed down from the goal post, and down the slide scared that we were going to get in trouble, or worse

One would think that purchasing your first home would be a very fascinating experience; after all it is one of the most major purchases of your entire life. In America, home ownership ties in with the American Dream and the spirit of working hard to one day earn through hard work a home with a white picket fence. My husband and I felt that it was time for us to reward ourselves for all the hard work we have been putting in over the years by purchasing our first home, which was well overdue. I quickly learned the process of purchasing your first home can be very frustrating and stressful. However, if you survive the home buying process the reward is priceless once you move into your “American Dream.”…

It was summer time and I was wearing my West Scranton football shorts and shirt, it was a normal day in the summer I was sitting in my living room with the air conditioner turned all the way down to 60 to get a cool breeze. I was watching Iron man but I really was not that into I kept drifting off and thinking what I should do with my day. My older brothers Shawn and Anthony came to the door around 2 in the afternoon and asked me if I wanted to go swimming. I quickly galloped up the stairs and asked my mother if I could go, she said yeah just be safe. So we left and went to a place called the “Rez” it was a place where high school and college kids go to jump off rocks and have a good time, it was a nice area surrounded by…

I strongly believe that if one is to be successful in society, setting goals and prioritizing them is very crucial. Having your goals set and prioritizing them does not only give you a clear focus on things you have to do, but it helps you to organize your plans so that you can set time limit and boundaries in achieving those goals. There are so many goals that I want to achieve my life. Since goals can only be achieved if they are realistic, timing and attainable, I have categorized my goals into long and short term goals.…

Five years from now I hope my work environment scenario is somewhere in my speech therapy classroom at an elementary school. There will be funny motivational posters on the walls and lots of bright stimulating colors and decorations everywhere. There will be a little reading area in a corner with bean bags, a patterned rug, and a cubby style shelf filled with books for reading levels from pre-k to 7th grade. I’ll have a speech phonic flag banner at the front of the classroom with all the consonant blends and consonant digraphs and a cork board with a list of common issue articulation words. There’s no curriculum to follow so I’ll be free to create individualized lesson plans for each student. In this scenario, a student and I are sitting in the reading area celebrating…

-January 2009- It was a Saturday, Kenneth and I were riding our bikes by H.D. Perry Middle School, my original middle school. We decided to stay at a park near by while listening to music on my iPod. We were both on bikes, but decided to sit on a bench. As we were listening to music these two kids came to talk to us. They looked a little suspicious so I looked around them to check on the bikes and saw two other kids taking our bikes. As I pushed the two kids in front of me aside Kenneth and I started to run to the other two kids. I ran as fast as I could and for the first time I ran faster than Kenneth. But as I ran to the kids they got on the bikes and just…

Writing has always been something that hasn’t came easy to me. I seem to struggle to get my ideas put onto paper. This semester this will be my third discourse class I have taken at UMKC and I can honestly say the past two classes have helped me with my literature and written skills greatly. Since my freshman year at UMKC I’ve learned new tools when doing anything involved in discourse. I use the tools that I learned in my pervious discourse classes to help construct my notes or thoughts and put them on paper. The writing lab at the university has been a great on campus tool that has helped me advance my skills in discourse or simply help me on a paper when I’m stuck. When I’m constructing an academic paper I typically starting with a outline and use that to constructed my rough draft.…

Gazing out my office window I often saw this elderly man shuffling down the sidewalk, and I thought to myself, how horrible it must have been for him to spend his entire life with a curved spine. This man's head was forced forward as if he was looking down at his feet all day long. I began to mentally compare his horrible life with mine. I was healthy as an ox, a big strong guy, and he must have been deformed from birth. I thought that it just wasn't fair to him, or for that matter, anyone else living with discomfort or pain, while my life has been near perfect. I sat there with my head in my hands with my eyes now closed, as I began to silently pray once again. In my deepest thought I gave a shout out to God. "If you are listening to me God, and I know you are, I want to get serious here for a moment. God you have blessed me with many things. You have given me a great life, and a healthy wonderful family. I'm not wealthy but I live comfortably, thanks to you my Lord. Please God hear my prayer, and remove the pain and discomfort from the afflicted. In exchange, please give it to me, so that I shall carry this small cross, that they may be healed." This was a sincere dedicated thought.I reinforced my thoughts again, and confirmed with myself, that I surely felt that I would be able to handle whatever malady God may present to…

Freshman year, it was my first time doing track. I really wanted to do shot put because my dad and my aunt did it in high school and they were very good. I tried to do the glide at first and then rotational, but then I realized I should stick with the glide. I didn't really know if I'd like it but I still tried it. Once I tried shot put I fell in love with it. I always wanted to do it. All through the season, I did a technique called the glide. That was the normal high school technique. For a freshman and a new thrower, I did very well. That summer I went to a camp and I learned a new technique called rotational that many college throwers do. I found it to be very fun, so I thought that I'd try it during the school season. I practiced it…
