III. Summary of OJT Experience

On-the-Job Training has something to do on educational purposes. As one student of BSHRM (Bachelor of science in hotel and restaurant management On-the-Job Training are much educating for it gives experiences, learning, more ideas, more scenery, and learning more on attending hands on training. I can really learn so much more through experiences, on what I see like in demonstrations.

I see many students from different schools competed to represent their schools. They apply their skills in the different areas of the Hotel. Different styles on their respective expertise. I observe that in entering such trainings. The trainer taught me more on about the hospitality industry, to deal entertain guests, to be contented on the position given, to strive harder even though it's hard, to be successful and have good behavior for in the future I will be one in the hospitality industry. This experience really helped me a lot in conquering the entire situation in my every day shift. Gives us inspirations to set our goals and aim high.

On our line of work, it deals on good behavior, good attitude being respectful and being a good personnel/asset to the company. The training also includes socialization learn to interact with other people, and being friendly. It gives enjoyment of course for us employees/Trainee and also to the customers we are attending to.

There are different areas that I trained when taking up the OJT (On-the-Job Training). Here are the different Areas of the hotel:
1. Front Office
Reservations desk(The one who books reservations)
Information desk (the one who attends calls from Hotel room)
Front desk (the one who handles transaction with the guests)
2. Concierge
The one handling the bags of the guests
Also one who parks cars of guests
3. In-house/Room attendant
The one who checks for the available rooms and cleanliness of every area of the hotel.
4. House Keeping
The one who cleans the room of the Hotel.

Dear students, As you prepare for your industrial training, go through these guidelines. Take your training to be an exposure to the industry that you are going to be a part of. As far as college curriculum is concerned, it is an assignment carrying 200 marks. That you can easily score with punctuality, Commitment and interest. It does not matter where you train. Every hotel, big or small has its own significance. If you train at a large 5 star deluxe hotel you get a very good exposure at the same time you may not get to work in certain specialized areas. On the other hand a smaller hotel may not have too many specialized areas but you get to handle responsibilities, which is a big learning in itself. Industrial Release Training also gives you an opportunity to select the department that you are suitable for. Students can look for role models and know the profile desirable for the industry. You may face some difficult times as you are adjusting to the life of an “Employee” but don’t worry, you can address your concerns to the training manager and also can get in touch with the faculty coordinator if required. They will guide you. But never ever remain absent from work if you are not able to cope up. Speak to the personnel concerned about your difficulties and some solution will certainly come up. It is also important to complete the training from one organization only. Institute does not approve of students changing hotels for their training. In case such need arises due to some emergencies, approval from the institute must be taken. Make sure you always have a scratch pad and a pen with you so that you can record the observations or write down any query that you have. Remember that you are the “Ambassador” of your institute and your conduct forms the image of the institute in the minds of the hoteliers. We expect you to be well behaved and well groomed always. I have tried to include here information about industrial training, leave…
