Narrative Essay: The Case Of Arm Failure
Just a few years back, August 2010 to be exact, I sat before a 12 man jury on charges of arm robbery, As the came back reading a guilty verdict, I sat in my chair next to my high paid lawyer feeling just as guilty as the verdict that had just been read before me. Not wanting to break down in tears I looked over at the deputy standing just to the right of me and asked her to escort me back to my cell. On the walk back, I replayed everything in my head that had put me in the situation I was in, I remember it was about 5:00 pm on a Friday evening, me and my ex boyfriend were home cooking dinner. The phone rang and he answered, it was two of his cousins asking if they could come over and hang out? Not thinking the night would end with us behind bars, we …show more content…
We parked around the corner and walked over were we approached one of the five people living in the home and quickly held him at gun point demanded all his money. He reached in his pocket and handed over everything, saying please just don’t shoot me. My ex boyfriend answered back saying shut up and lead us in to the home. As the man unlocked and open the door, there were his friends in shock. We demanded them all face down on the floor. One of my ex boyfriends cousins said, you get everything out of there pockets whiles we keep them still. I did just that. Once we were done, we ran out leaving behind not only our finger prints but witnesses and video surveillances. Thinking that we had gotten away we did another, then another until the night finally came to a end and we were left with nothing but regrets, wishing we would of just stayed home. But there was no turning back. What was done, was done. We all were sitting in back of police cars being hauled off to our new home for the next 3 years of our life and there was nobody to blame but ourselves. We chose to do these crimes and now it was time to face the consequences of out

It was the longest walk into town I have ever taken, because of all the people of course. The whole time all I could think about is what are they going to do to me. In this town we hang or imprison murderers. Honestly I can’t think of which I would prefer if they gave me the option. If I was to be sent to prison, then I would serve a life sentence which in my case might not be that long. This sounds better than being hung. Finally, we made it to the Sheriff’s office, and I sat down in the chair right in front of his desk. He already knew why I was there, everyone in town knew by now what I had done. I suppose they would be shocked to know I was capable of murder. I however know exactly what I am capable of doing.…

Recently my Facebook page has been filled with posts about Koalton Peterson. Koalton and I went to school together, in fact we were locker buddies for 2 out of the 3 years we went to school together. When I knew him, he was just an average teenage boy; but that was 3 years ago. People can change over time, obviously, but no one would have ever thought Koalton would end up where he is now. What happened almost a year ago was completely unexpected, surprising and totally out of character for Koalton. \ On November 27th, 2012 Ryan M. Smith had arrived at the friend’s house that Koalton was staying at, after a heated argument via texting with Koalton. Apparently, the reason for the argument was because Ryan was angry that Koalton couldn't come up with the amount of weed that Ryan wanted when he wanted it. When Ryan arrived at Koalton's residence, Koalton was waiting outside for Ryan with a baseball bat. Koalton struck Ryan in the head, knocking him unconscious. Koalton proceeded to beat Ryan with the bat for several minutes before Ryan’s girlfriend got out of the car and called 911. Ryan died on December 1st, 2012 at UW Hospital. Koalton’s final court date was a few weeks ago, and that is what started the whole Facebook drama. Koalton is being charged with and plead guilty to second-degree reckless homicide and aggravated battery in the death. Koalton is being sentenced to 20 years in prison and then 10 years of probation.…

You are carrying your severely injured fiancé while trying to get out of a burning and collapsing building. You know that time is limited and only a few minutes remain before the building will be completely destroyed. All of a sudden, you hear cries for help from a room that is blocked by fallen debris. Through a slit of the cracks, you see an injured man shielding a baby and a young girl (who you assume is his). When you look at the man's face you recognize him as the man who you strongly believe raped and murdered your mother and sister. Due to the faults in the law system and his strong alibi, he was sentenced to only 6 years in jail. Knowing the man's crimes, your fiancé still tells you to go save the trapped family and leave him behind because he is already weighing you down. You now have the lives of four people in your hands and you must choose who you will save.…

There were some sad days for me when I was growing up. Because I was born with a handicap that's what they called it in my day. I was born with a club foot, which meant the bone in my right leg was broken during the time my mother carried me. And the doctors had to do surgery on me when I was 10 months old. I was told that the doctors had to fix the broken bone in my right leg. I still have the scar. As I begin to walk, I walked on my toes. I walked this way until the second surgery when I was about 6 or 7 years old. This started the process to correct my right foot. The surgery was successful. I was able to put my foot down a little bit more since birth. I was still able to go outside and play.…

I once was in a break-dancing club so I could try new things out. During one club meeting, some members taught me how to train myself to do a handstand. I was trying it out on my own, without any help and I ended up falling in a strange way that led me to break my hip (there was a crack in my femur). After my recovery, I had to deal with some social stresses at school. Friends and teachers would lightly joke about how careless I must have been. I was even nicknamed 'Grandpa', naturally because I broke my hip. The jokes were funny at first, but it shortly started to annoy me. They also caused me to feel very embarrassed and disappointed in myself, so I become overly self-conscious. After days went by, a stranger informed me that I went through…

    Kristin’s Death

This case is based on the death of Kristin whose author is her father. Michael Carter was Kristin’s ex-boyfriend, his past criminal record demonstrates how easy it is for criminals to get away with murder. I’m going to go over some of his past criminal record to demonstrate how Michael Cartier should have never been set free in the streets, and to demonstrate how many opportunities our justice system had to put him away in jail before he committed more crimes. I believe that the best way to present Michael’s criminal history is by covering some of the many encounters he had with our justice system prior to murdering Kristin as well as the consequences for his actions. The first arrest was 1998 for burglary, when arrested Michael was sentenced to six month in jail. However, he never served any time for this crime. Followed by a sledgehammer rampage in 1990. Another incident where our justice system failed to put Michael in jail was on March 28, 199I when another of Michael’s violent abuse victim called his probation officer. The probation officer “told Rose to get a restraining order” (Stillman, 2010). Rose Ryan sister mentioned to the probation officer that Michael had a gun in his possession, this led the probation officer to obtain a warrant for Michael Cartier’s arrest. This didn’t stop Michael from attacking rose with a pair of scissors. When Michael was finally picked up by…
