Narrative Essay: Sam Was Fine
Sam was “fine”. She got home from school and went straight to her room. Her mom was talking on the phone in the kitchen. Sam was exhausted because her day was horrible. During 1st period, some girls in her class threw gum in her hair. She didn’t notice until she got to her 4th period, so she had to cut a piece of her hair. Then she went to lunch. She didn’t want to be around anyone, so she didn’t eat. At the end of the day, she missed the bus so she had to walk home. She was now in her bed trying not to cry. “I hate school. No one understands me.”
She was about to fall asleep when her mom walks in.
“Stop being lazy and come help me clean the kitchen! You never do anything in this house. You’re useless. You always lock yourself in your room as soon as you get

“What?! Why?” she asked. “I got tired of listening to my mom complain for no reason. She’s always yelling at me, and telling me I’m useless,” she responded. “Where are you going to stay?,” Mia asked. “I was going to ask you if you wouldn’t mind me staying at your house for a couple of days.” she responded. “Of course you can! You can stay with me for as long as you need,” Mia replied.
It was getting late so they headed to Mia’s house. Once they were home, Sam explained the problem to Mia’s mom. Her mom agreed to let her stay, but told her that she didn’t want any problems. They came to an agreement. The agreement was that Sam could stay, but she had to answer her parents if they called and tell them where she was. They ate dinner, and then went to bed. The next day, Sam and Mia went to school. Everything was ok until they got home. Mia’s mom informed the girls that Sam’s parents were looking for her. Sam’s mom called her, telling her that Sam had ran away. Mia’s mom had no choice but to tell her that Sam was at her house. “I’m sorry Sam. I had to tell her. She was worried about you,” she said. “It’s ok. I knew that I couldn’t just leave like that,” Sam

During the American Revolution Soldiers weren’t the only ones who were at high risk of death. For example in the small town of Redding, Connecticut there was a variety of different opinions on war. Unlike like most happy stories and fairytales there was no good side, there might have been a good cause but no side was considered innocent. The Patriots were killing someone for a crime they did or looked like they were committing even if they were fighting for their side. The British were exaggerating situations to get a chance to execute a fellow loyalist or Patriot. In the book My Brother Sam is Dead by, James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier,…

It is about Sam Meeker, a young man who wants to enlist into the Rebel army and his younger brother Tom, who admires Sam for his bravery and courage. 32 “Well its actually happening ma’, I’m goin’ back to school.”Rufus said. “I want you to know, I truly am proud of you Rufus.” His mother replied. Curtis and Janet went to a different school then Rufus but he still walked them to school then walked himself to school. On his way to school a car followed him very slowly but Rufus kept walking. When he got to school it looked the same on the outside that it always had. Rufus pushed open the doors at Searingtown School and yelled “I’m back!” All of his friends ran over to hug him. He went down to the office to get a tour he thought he didn’t need because he remembered every single solitary thing about this place. While the tour was going on everything going on was a blur. He looked left, right and left again, admiring the changes the school had made. “Wow” he sighed. “Is there a problem Rufus?” the tour guide asked. Rufus answered, “When I was here the wall paint was all chipped, there were broken windows and holes in the walls.” “Oh ok, well that concludes our tour and this door on your right is your first period class.” The tour guide replied. Rufus walked in and sat at an available seat at the back of the class room. He opened his notebook and took notes even though he didn’t understand anything that was going on. By the time 5th period came around it was time for lunch he was starving. All of his friends called him over and asked him to sit with him. Momma didn’t make him a big lunch because they didn’t have that much food in the house and then needed to split it 3 different ways. Allison who used to have a big crush on Rufus sat right next to him. Mitchell and Charlie sat across from him and Christina, Alisha and Sammy sat around them. When the bell rang he went to his locker and when he got to class he looked out the window and saw the same car that followed him to school. The only person he thought of was Simon. During the Revolutionary War, 4,435 patriots lost their lives due to brutal combat. This is way too many deaths for one newborn country to handle, and especially when going up against an army like England's. Just to be free from taxes, it is not worth it to go through as brutal war as it was and risk so many lives for it. The three reasons on why the authors, James and Christopher Collier, of the book My Brother Sam Is Dead, are against war are division of family, clash of generations, and principle vs. reality.…
