Narrative Essay On Flag Football
As a cheerleader, I took part in a high energy and enthusiasm activity, yet I craved more. “More” just so happened to be flag football. The summer before I entered the first grade I asked my parents if I could make the transition. My request was met with emotions including concern, intrigue, but most of all, support. My parents were not going to dissuade me from participating in any hobby, especially one I seemed so interested in pursuing. I showed up to the first practice with my curly, blonde hair pulled back in a tight ponytail. I was enthusiastic to learn and participate in the sport over which my whole family went ballistic each Sunday night in the dead of winter. Upon my much awaited arrival, the coach's wife asked what number I wanted to have on the back of my extra-small jersey. I thought ‘one’ was the …show more content…
The rest of my life was influenced by what I learned as the quarterback of this flag football team. I make my choices in life based on what I believe I can do and what I desire to accomplish. I never let societal normalities deviate me from reaching any goal. My life, to this day, is very heavily influenced by the idea of feminism, and I am more than happy to identify as such. I live out each day trying to help further the position of women in the world, whether it be something as simple as educating a family member on issues women face, or as serious as helping a friend to recognize an abusive relationship. As a high school senior, I founded and became president of the Women’s Equality Club.If given the chance to be the first female on a previously male-only football team again, I would not hesitate to accept the opportunity. I learned so much about how the world underestimates the power of a female, and I loved proving prior conceptions wrong. Playing football helped to mold me into the woman I am today more than anything else I

Good Evening Mr. Forrest, this is Sean Anderson. I wanted to send this report involving the girl's basketball coach from Northeast Middle School. Me and Jason Collins were the officials at West Creek Middle School vs Northeast Middle School. The games started at 4:45. During the second game, which was the girl's basketball game, my partner Jason Collins made a ruling against Northeast in the 4th quarter. The girl's head coach did not like the ruling and venting her frustrations toward us. She screamed" her player was not there for the foul". While I was administering the free throws I heard her screaming and gave her the stop sign signal and told her ok that's enough. I didn't administer no technical foul even though she continue…

Flag Football is a version of American or Canadian football. It is very popular worldwide. The basic rules of the game are similar to those of the mainstream game that is often called tackle football but instead of tackling players to the ground the defensive team must remove a flag or flag belt form the ball carrier “ de flagging” to end a down. Other rules are you can have a minimum of five players. No jewelry or things like that that would get in the way. All pads and braces must be worn above the waist. Bare feet are not allowed you must wear tennis shoes or rubber cleats. Cleats with metal are not okay if you do wear them you won’t be able to play. There are no set uniforms but you have to tuck in your shirt or jersey. You don’t need a ball or bat or racket of any kind to play this game. You just need flag belts. They are like a belt that you can clip or snap on to your body. They have flags hanging down that allow other players to pull off of you. They have to be visible to the other players. That is why their shirt has to be tucked in. Free kicks are not aloud in flag football only punting and it can not be quick punting that is not aloud either. Touchdowns are the biggest way to get points just like in American football. It gives the team six points. Each team is aloud two one minute time out period per half. The game can go from about one to two hours long. It is played all over the United States. There can be anywhere from as little of four to eleven or twelve players on each team. It is one of the only sports that can be played with both male and female on the field at one time. Or they can have their own games. The sport has a strong amateur following and several nation and international competitions each year sponsored by various associations and companies. People take it very seriously but the game is also played just for fun. There are also festivals such as the International Flag Football Festival organizes…

Many people have argued that, “Should we ban high school football?” One of the main reason’s why we should outlaw the sport is due to head injuries, or injuries in general. Now granted, we cannot protect kids 24/7. Injuries in sports are just common things that occur. We can only do our best to prevent children from hurting themselves.…

When we were children, our mothers and fathers would take care of us, whatever we needed they found a way to get it. They were out support beams, our shoulders to cry on, and our correction officers when we were in the wrong. They were also the ones we ran to when we had our scars and bumps. We knew that they would give us the right things to make us feel better. When we get older we begin to make more risky decisions, and sometimes those become bad decisions, possibly ending in injury.…

As a four sport athlete (football, hockey, baseball, and track), I have endured my ups and downs with sports teams, but nothing compares to the adversity, leadership, and courage I had to muster up in the 2015 football season. The 2015 season looked bright for the hilltoppers, coming off three successful seasons, where I started and helped our football team win many games. I was a co-captain my Junior year and all-conference, so I was really looking forward to taking the reigns and becoming the true leader of our football team. However, the season was a disaster on paper at best. We went 0-9 and competed at a high level in 3 of those games. The day of our fourth football game, only 30 minutes prior to getting on the bus, my stomach started…

Football has always been a big part of my life. As a young boy I would day dream of making insane touchdowns, making tackles that would leave man stuck in the ground, and even winning the heisman trophy. In 7th grade I had begged my mother endlessly to sign me up for pee wee football because she would always worry about the risks of football. After finally getting her to sign me up, we went straight into the season. I chose to play running back because as a 12-year-old I was remarkably fast having timed 5.3 in the 40 yard-dash. After a few weeks in the season we approached the playoffs and found out our opponent for the first round of the playoffs were the jaguars who were undefeated. Our team didn’t have the best chemistry on…

Many people I know have learned many life lessons while playing the sport of football. Vince Lombardi, the Green Bay Packers former coach, has a quote that no sports editorial can disagree with. I survive by this quote every single day of my life. The quote says “Football is a great deal like life in that it teaches that work, sacrifice, perseverance, competitive drive, selflessness and respect for authority is the price that each and every one of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.” - Vince Lombardi…
