Narrative Essay On Coming Of Age

Voices shouted from the flat screen as my mother turned on her Thai shows, when I noticed I had to do my interview with my father Michael. It was late afternoon and there was no time left to do my interview except for then. My father is tall, mostly always wearing dress clothes. He was sitting at the table eating with his nice dress clothes. My interview was due the next day and I knew I had to do it now or never. I wasted no time and asked if that time was right. He agreed and we went into my room, me sitting on my bed and him laying. The fan was turned on high, so all you could hear was blowing. I caught his attention and started the interview while he was alerted. Michael lived in many states growing up but mostly was raised in the smoggy San Gabriel valley of southern California. He lived in a humongous neighborhood where people barely knew each other and wouldn’t stray too far from their house because they might get into the wrong neighborhood. I pressed the red record button on my phone and started on the interview. Michael seemed tired, closing his eyes while answering. Whilst answering he was half paying attention half asleep. All unique and different meanings to separate people though similar. My definition of coming of age is being mature, ready for anything, no procrastinating, and being responsible in life. My coming of age I do not believe has happened yet but I could feel is coming soon. People believe on one individual event coming of age could happen and some might think you turn a certain age and it magically out of thin air happens but coming of age is not like that to me. Coming of age is no matter what age you are but over time when you become responsible, mature, and ready for your own decisions in life. Coming of age doesn’t have a specific definition but one by each individual
