Background
The village is supplied with surface water source from a dam that is four kilometers away in the high hills. The water is directly piped to village with, two pipes of 2 inch pvc(polythene vinyl casing) outlet. Dam never dries up even during the extreme drought season. Infrastructure work was done by Water Authority of Fiji. Village is in two portion one sector is sitting in elevated zone and another part of the village is on the road side level adjacent to the river. During the day time only lower part of the village receives water, at night when pressure is increased due to reduced number of users the water supply reaches the elevated zone of the village. From reconnaissance visit it was observed that only four rain water tanks were sighted with improper guttering to capture the rain water. The villager’s encounters problems during the rainy season when dam gets blogged by falling trees, lose rocks rolling down the hill and increased in turbidity level so for few days villagers cannot utilize the water for drinking. The pipe is running long distance so sometimes the main flow line breaks up. The Department of mineral Resources was requested to solve the current water crisis for the Village of Naqali.

Introduction
A reconnaissance groundwater investigation trip was conducted on the 7th of April 2014 to Naqali village in Naitasiri, the request was made by the Turaga-ni-koro. The village is approximately 30 kilometers southeast of Suva. Assessment included the quality and the viability of groundwater potential in the area to sustain a reliable water source for human consumption and other measures to improve the existing water supply system. There are 86 household in the village with the population 352 people. Generally the village is on flood prone area. Naqali river is about 100 meters across the road. This brief report outlines the major field observations and geophysics survey conducted during the visit.
