Nagaina In Tikki Vikings
In the story Rikki-tikki-tavi by Rudyard Kipling, Rikki-tikki-tavi a brave and valiant mongoose fight/battles a sneaky and smart snake called Nagaina. Rikki and Nagaina will both do anything to protect their families.

First of all Rikki is a courageous and determined mongoose. For example, when Rikki is fighting Nag it shows how brave he was, “For he made sure he would be banged to death, and for the honor of his family, he preferred to be found with his family, he preferred to be found with his teeth locked.” (Kipling 20). This demonstrates that Rikki is very determined and brave. He could have given up, however he kept fighting even though he thought he was going to be killed.Rikki-tikki’s determination helps him protect his family.

Nagaina is a smart and sneaky snake that wants to get rid of Rikki-tikki.For example, when Nagaina is talking to Nag about sneaking in the house with a plan, “When the house is emptied of people he will have to go away, and then the garden will be our own again.” (Kipling 16). This shows that Nagaina is smart enough to develop a plan to get rid of Rikki. Nagaina could have just rushed in the house but, she is sneaky and wants to get in with a plan. Nagainas sneaking helps her a little while trying to get in the house.

The theme reveals something about human nature or life in general. In this case, or in my poem, the theme is that sometimes people are appreciated for their talents and not as a person. One event that shows this theme is Arthur goes from a juvenile kid who threw a brick at an elderly man to a responsible kid finishing creating an deseced man's dream, at his own will. Around the world many people experience the same feelings and emotions. This is an example of universal theme. The folk tales, “The Old Grandfather and His Little Grandson” by Leo Tolstoy and the poem, “Abuelito Who” by Sandra Cisneros share the same universal theme. The universal theme expresses respect and honors your elders. Both stories were about old people being mistreated because younger characters thought they were useless. Additionally, the younger generation felt that the elderly were unproductive and were just extra mouths to feed. Overall, the younger generation realized they had wronged their elders.…

    Hero Definition Essay

This is why selflessness is another important factor in what it means to be a hero. A hero takes action for the purpose of helping others, without hidden motives or personal agendas. Heroes are willing to forget about their own needs when faced with the needs of others. One such example of selflessness is found in the story of Victoria Soto. The schoolteacher was only 27 years old when she gave her life trying to shield her young students during the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Connecticut. This action shows selflessness in its most pure form, completely abandoning concern for oneself in the process of helping, or in this case saving, others. While sacrificing ones life to save another’s is an extreme example of this, it can also be found in the actions of the everyday heroes that surround us. A working single mother is an example of a selfless hero that we are surrounded by in our day-to-day life. While she isn’t literally giving her life for anyone, a single mother who has to work long hours and sacrifice sleep and other wants to provide for her children is displaying selflessness and most certainly establishing herself as a hero to her children and those around her. “A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tries to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and who really deeply cares.” – Debi…

Amazing book on the life of Karna, the famous warrior who participated in the great Mahabharata war. The story has an inimitable style. There are various characters involved with the life of Karna and the author had brought them to life by actually making them tell their story. And the continuity about the life story of Karna is not lost. This is the wonderful part of narrating a story where each important character speaks to you and expresses his or her story, their roles. The story has really done a justice to the characters and the role model that Karna played in the great epic. This style of presenting a story I believe was first introduced by V. S. Khandekar in his Award winning novel "Yayati" (which is another stupendous novel). And was adopted by Shivaji Sawant. The best part of the story is the years of research that went in developing this story from a 4 thousand year old epic. The book presents the story in its best possible authentic form. It is hard not to lose yourself in the world created by the author which though thousands of years old is made contemporary by the human feelings and thoughts that are timeless. The characters in the book have not been glorified as pious heroes and helps to make it easier to identify to real world then to some mystic story. The great story telling power of Shivaji Sawant and his thought provoking underliners about the duties of man are an eye opener. This was the first Marathi novel that I read and fell in love with it and with it the Marathi literature. Hats off to you Mr.…
