My Writing Strength
Writing in general is not one of my strong suits. It is difficult to highlight my strengths as I feel most of my writing shows off my weaknesses. However, it is extremely important for me to better my writing skills so I can reach my ultimate goal of earning my bachelor’s degree in business marketing. I have almost failed English class, on more than one occasion, because I could not grasp punctuation and where to put something as simple as a comma. More often than not, my brain tends to struggle to put words down on paper. Because of my typically busy lifestyle, I am beyond organized and a very logical thinker. With my strong desire to have a career in the business field, I need to be able to write effectively to become a …show more content…
One of my main strengths is how organized and detail-oriented I am. I am constantly planning ahead and never allow myself to procrastinate. Being so organized with writing allows me to utilize my time properly to enrich my writing as much as possible. Proper organization gives me the opportunity to create a paper that is well thought out and written in an appropriate fashion. I rarely get writer’s block as I usually do so much preparation before even thinking of starting the paper. Even when I do get stuck I have my notes and plans to turn to that help to get me back on track. Organizing my paper gives me a clear and calm mind, giving me more time to fill my paper with meaningful details. I may spend more time writing, typing, and reading my paper, but the final result is always so much better than when I rush through it. As a logical thinker, I think through every angle of an argument and find all the details I could possibly need to prove my point. I always have the proper details I need, which allows me to prove and develop my points fully. When writing a paper, I try to identify with the reader and anticipate what questions they might form. Doing this gives me the unique advantage to add more detail to answer questions before the reader even thinks of them. I try to write quality arguments with great details that force the reader to think deeply, beyond just the words on the paper. My strengths help me to create a paper that has a strong backbone and great supporting

Everybody has probably experienced writer’s block sometime in their life, and it can be very frustrating. When you do get writer’s block, it makes you distracted because your mind goes off into its own world. The more you get distracted, the harder it is to concentrate. Then whatever it is you have to write ends up taking so long it feels like time itself slows to a stop, and your eyes go blurry from staring at the screen for so long. Seriously, that happened to me writing the first draft of this. It's especially bad when you have to adjust to a new form of writing. For example, first year college writing, papers in a new field of study, longer essays that you aren’t used to, or a long research paper, like the Senior Mastery Project, which should be called the Senior Misery Project. I especially hate writing for a reader who have been overly critical or demanding in the past, or when I remember negative criticism received in the past, even if the reader who criticized my work won’t be reading my writing…

Looking at my most recent paper, the research paper, I think that I have grown at organization and careful flow of thoughts. I used to just begin writing my papers without any plan or organization, but throughout this course we learned that you should base your paper around your thesis statement. The research paper I wrote was on the “The Medias Impact on Your Body Image”. I could have chosen an easier topic to research, considering that the opposing view was pretty controversial, but I felt I had acquired the skills that I needed to really learn and understand this complicated issue. Enrolling in this English class, I feel that have…

Some of my weaknesses as a writer are I’m not very good at making a start or an ending; they usually just get jumbled up with the rest of the paper. I also feel I am not very good with commas.…

With all this being said about my writing weaknesses I still find ways to enjoy writing and work past the struggles in writing- I may not be the most organized writer in the world, while the graphic organizers do indeed help me, but I always find myself changing my mind on what to write, whatever sounds better to the ear to me. My desire to change what I already have written may be why I’m unorganized at times. One thing that anybody that truly knows me knows, is that I rarely ever quit something once it is started, and I will continue to do my best until it is physically impossible for me to do…

A lack of patience is the main reason I have trouble with writing. Before college, I was unwilling to put a significant amount of time into truly understanding a topic, forming a credible standpoint, and editing the paper. Nonetheless, it was important for me to complete the writing assignments to have a grasp of writing skills. Although writing has played a significant role in my education up to this point, it will not necessarily be an important part in my career choice of nursing.…

My core, defining strength in writing is set up of the physical pape. When I write a report, I usually divide my paper in different segments as that allows the reader and myself a quick and easy method to find where information is located. This probably stems from the fact I must write a lot of lab reports as a Biology major. However, I cannot recall if I ever written an argument report with this method as I just starting using it when I enrolled in college. It will be interesting to see how well I will do.…

Reflecting back on writing my research paper, there were certainly some strengths I believed I exceeded in. While writing the paper, I consider the points and details I used to be both effective and properly stated. That being said, while doing research, I believed I strived in finding reliable sources that provide accurate information towards my topic. Referring back to the research, I believe I used references that were relatively recent in either the publishing or editing date. Considering these things, I believe that I have wrote a strong paper that can be used to show my strengths as a writer.…
