My Vocation
Last weekend, I went to Vung Tau beach with my boyfriend by motorbike. We started on the journey at five o’clock on Saturday morning from HCMC. All necessary things had been prepared since Friday evening. We followed the way crossing Cat Lai ferry to Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province. It is about 20km nearer than the way through Bien Hoa City. On the way, we could enjoy a view and breathe a gust of wind on Saigon river. It was so difficult for us to pass a long high road because the road have been repairing and widening. We also stopped by a small restaurant to have breakfast. It took us about 3 hours to get there. After renting a small room from a hotel near front beach/ behind beach, we wallowed in sea water (swam in the sea) about an hour. It was very exciting for us to bath in a light sun with small waves, gusts of sea-breeze and a crowded beach. We had lunch at a small restaurant with many kinds of delicious sea food. In the afternoon, we stayed in bed then went to the beach at 5PM. In the evening, we went for a walk on the road surrounding the beach to enjoy sea sight at night then came back for sleeping at midnight. We had a very deep sleep after an interesting and utterly (entirely) exhausted day. On Sunday morning, we woke up so late then had breakfast in the hotel. We also sunbathed on the beach at 9AM and enjoyed surfing with a speed-boat on the water surface. When the sun was at its zenith, we went back the hotel to check out then returned home at 11 AM. On the way back, we stopped for lunch at Long Thanh district and bought some fruits as well as took a break at once. We were present at home about 5PM. That was an interesting and exciting weekend

Earlier that day, my family and I took a serene walk down the pier. We saw fishermen catching fish and people getting ready to go fishing in a boat. When we got back to our petite cabin, we prepared to go frolic at the beach. At the beach, my brother and I went swimming. The massive waves were uncommon at Capitola, so we were cheerful we got to swim in the immense waves. After a terrific ten to fifteen minutes of…

Part 1: In the beginning of class we were proposed a model of discernment from the Rule of Saint Benedict. “Listen carefully, my son, to the master’s instructions, and attend to them with the ear of your heart. This is advice from a father who loves you; welcome it, and faithfully put it into practice.” (St. Benedict, Prologue Page 1) With this rule as Benedict explains in his reading and in the presentation notes in class Benedict tells us the basis of his model of receptivity, reflectivity, and activity. When we finished signing in, the maid took us to our room. It wasn’t like an inside hotel, it is outside but of course we had roofs over our head. Our suite was very neat and clean. The suite had a full kitchen with a loaded fridge including pop, water, juice, champagne, wine, and beer. It had a coffee machine, glasses, a dishwasher, an oven, and a full sink. It also had a full bathroom including a vanity. The suite included a washer and a dryer. It had a balcony with a table and two lounge chairs. The living room had a flat screen T.V. with an Xbox 360 with two controllers. We had a wonderful view of the ocean where you could see people sailing and parasailing. The first thing we did was walk on the beach and ate at 1 of the 21 restaurants. There food was so good. Especially the seafood. The second day we looked around and saw 30 shops and 21 restaurants. After lunch we went to the beach. The ocean was beautiful. The color of the ocean was a light blue. It looked like a big swimming pool and not an ocean. Even when you are looking down with your head above water you can see everything. We collected a lot of pretty shells. We decided to spend the full day at the beach and it was so much fun. When you…

He turned on the radio to a soft Vietnamese melody and headed towards my grandmother’s home. I sat in the back, watched the passing sceneries in an air-conditioned cab as if they were a movie. I watched as the pale clouds enveloped the sky, engulfed the sun and swallowed my everyday worries. Below on the grassy paddocks kids aged around 6-7, with bent backs and lifted buttocks, worked for their daily meals, knees deep in muddy water, fingers groping pitifully against the blood sucking leeches. Their ‘nong la’, straw hats, hung over their eyes, their dark pupils dilated and fingers numbed at each plunge they made into the murky water.…

We jumped back in the car and hit the road. There wasn’t much to see heading into California. It is very similar to Vegas, in that, they are both lush with green grass and towering palm trees. But once we hit Laguna Beach, it was like a whole new world. It was a small town filled with very friendly people. Shiny, luxurious cars lined the streets, at least every third one being a convertible. People filled the beaches and streets, taking in the sunshine, some walking dogs, others bordered by what looked like family or friends. When we pulled up to our hotel, a quaint little Inn; spitting distance from the beach, we were pleasantly surprised. A two level spread of rooms surrounding a swimming pool that was accompanied by a hot sauna made out of an actual wine barrel. The nightly rate wasn’t much, the most we could afford for the planned two nights booked in a paradise called Laguna, so we had prepared for less. We checked in and walked straight to the beaches. Words cannot describe the sights of these beaches. The tide was low and we were able to walk right onto the coral reefs and admire the collected puddles of water and sea life. Beautiful pinkish, orange starfish and prickly, purple sea urchins lined the walls while small fish and hermit crabs explored the territory. The sky was the bluest blue and the sun beamed down on our skin, toasting us the perfect bronze, without a…

In there, I met the most innocent and purest children. Being with them in 후엉호아, Vietnam became an unforgettable piece of my memories. Especially, the meeting with my supporting child 투옥 gave me a chance to think of many things. Before I actually met 투옥, I was really excited to see her. I wanted to enjoy special time with 투옥, and I went to met her in delight. But what greeted me was wandering eyes of a scared girl. Although I tried to be friendly with her and gave a big smile to her, 투옥 never opened her mind to me. She was just looking at the empty sky meaninglessly. Except for me, everyone was spending pleasure time with their support child and I was really sad that I could not spend good time with 투옥. Then 투옥’s sister read my countenance and scolded 투옥. ‘What am I to scold that delicate child?’ I was so sorry and felt pitiful of…

As soon as we got to our hotel room, I rushed to put on my swimsuit to go to the beach before the sun fully set. The hotel room looked like I had been there for a month, with clothes scattered over the marbled tiles in our hotel bathroom. The soft sand between my toes felt like fuzzy socks as I ran to meet the ocean’s tide. The foaming water washed away the sand as well as the stress I had accumulated at the airport. My worries about not having my parents with me and being in a new place fled as I watched the sun set behind the tall…

A common situation that has been reported on a regular basis within numerous health care facilities is the overall amount of communication that is taking place between nurses, doctors and patients. In some cases this lack of communication that is occurring among the staff can lead to errors and possibly death. While this is no doubt a tragedy, the reality that changing the culture of communication with in the hospital can be a formidable challenge that must be addressed to fix this ongoing problem that is occurring. This has lead to an increase in the number of medical malpractice lawsuits, where many plaintiffs have often said that they only way that they could find out the truth as to what happened to their relatives is to sue because the health care facility was not giving them the information that they asked for. Instead, opting not to communicate with the patient’s family because of the culture that exists with in the health care facility itself. This means that in order to address this growing concern the staff of the facility must at least agree that there is a problem and must then want to implement these changes to improve the overall amount of communication that is taking place among the staff as well as patients.…

Each person has their own idea or thoughts on things. You may think that it is silly to live in the country so far from the city while I may think it is silly to live in crowded city. The same goes for perspective educators; each individual has their own opinion of what it is going to be like to become a teacher and what their classroom is going to be like before they have completed their first educational class. As time passes and classes are taken, those preconceived thoughts can have a way of changing your future expectations. Views become more realistic and you understand what there really is to being a good teacher.…
