In her article, author Katy Waldum succesfully dismantles Bu's research becuase she shows that thier is no scientific proof to prove Bu' research. That first born girls are leaders. Waldum shows evidence, "Alfred Adler, a student of Freud, pioneered the idea that firstborns seek out leadership roles, delight in rules and order, and value achievement; that lastborns tend to be charming, popular, and spoiled; that middle children -- yawn, who cares?; and that onlies can be both mature and dependent." This evidence shows how this is an idea presented and has gone through many people. Without real scientific proof of geniticaly bieng true. Also she proves by sending Bu's research to a University. The University siad "New research from scientists at the University of Essex, though, uses multilevel modeling techniques to overcome these hurdles, and the results suggest that birth-order effects are more than just a methodological illusion." So the scientists viewed her research and they clearly state that birth order effects are not true. This is just an idea people have heard and have believed. They have been blinded by the truth behind that birth order idea and dismantels Bu's ideas.…
The hardest type of change is that which we ask for and deem necessary, especially when we feel as though we will not be heard or seen by those we hope to reach; when we are the minority or the oppressed. It takes an immense strength and will to make that type of change happen, but it only takes one person to start it. The amazing thing is that seeing the power of one stand up to the majority sparks others to have the power and courage to do so as well. This spark, spreading like fire is not easily extinguished; fighting it only makes it grow stronger; it is only calmed by achieving the necessary change it burns for. The Declaration of Independence, The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen, and A Vindication of the Rights of Women all…
Many children scheming, innocent people arrested, madness ensuing—all of these disastrous incidents took place in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible—a book portraying the atrocious events of the Salem Witch Trials. If the Bill of Rights had been written before the trials took place, there most likely would’ve been quite a few effects on the outcomes of the trials. A few amendments that could have possibly made a difference in the Salem Witch Trials are Amendment I, Amendment IV, and Amendment VIII of the Bill of Rights.…
“I Grew Up”, by Lenore Keeshig-Tobias, and “Night”, by Yvonne Trainer, are two poems which tell of two children’s upbringings, one which was described as “the most beautiful place”(1, 3rd line), and one that was filled with anger and abuse. Both of these poems confront, and defy the generic stereotypes commonly associated with Native American reserves and traditional American family farms.…
The focus of this article is the bias found in evolutionary and endocrinological studies. These studies serve the purpose of defining and tracing human nature through evolution and present times. Evolutionary studies address the description of human descent from primates. These studies seek to outline the sequence of changes and mechanisms of action that make up the evolution of humans from primates. The general theory of evolution is used to reconstruct history with facts and evidence from fossils and other remains. Endocrinology is the study of how hormones affect human anatomy and physiology, behavior, and cognition.…

There was a time in my life when the only thing I wanted to do was dance. It was like I couldn’t get up and start my day without releasing those wonderful endorphins. The instant high I would get just by moving my body and sweating really made me feel alive. There were days that I did not dance. I felt extremely lazy and my feet felt heavy like they were dragging across the floor as I walked. What a difference it made the way I felt for the rest of the day. It was like I could accomplish anything I set my mind to do. It all started when I was three years old. My first dance studio was called Ms. Frances in Rocky Hill, CT, later known as New England School of Dance. Ballet was the first type of dance that I was introduced to. I remember loving the small tutus I had to wear. Later came jazz, tap, hip-hop and lyrical. I remember my recitals and having all of the costume changes. It was so much fun backstage with my friends getting ready to go on stage to show off my dance moves. I also enrolled in a traveling hip-hop class at a different school that was located in Norwich, CT. This type of hip-hop was very old school with a lot of funky moves. The moves were a little harder, but I loved it. We had competitions all over the state. Meanwhile, Ms. Frances owner, Miss Adriana also had a…

Ever since I was a little girl dance has always been an important part of my life. When I was five, my mom enrolled me in dancing classes after my sister, never realizing that dancing would ever lead to anything serious. For the first year, dancing was a side hobby to help keep me busy after school. Even though dancing was really fun to me, it did not become serious until my dance teacher looked me in my eyes and said “Lexus you have a big and lovable heart and I want you to dance with that heart of yours because I know that you have what it takes to become a great dancer.” That moment I knew that dance was going to always be a passion of mine.…
