My Successful In Pursuing Osteopathic Medicine

My personal qualities that will make me successful in pursuing osteopathic medicine include being compassionate, a good communicator, and being able to cooperate with others. Wanting to strengthen others through their health has always been the central drive to my pursuit towards medicine. I have demonstrated that I am compassionate through my volunteering efforts. I spent a lot of my time on the transplant floor at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Reflecting on how I was as a child, I was sure that these children were feeling lonely and uncomfortable being uprooted from their homes to stay at a hospital for days, especially those that did not have family in the room. I tried my best to make my time count by spending time with these patients. I have one fond memory playing NBA2K with one patient, and he beat me good! Although I hate losing,
I am able to empathize with others and have the patience and willingness to understand others and their situations. I believe my compassion will help me become a successful osteopathic physician because it will make the practice of medicine more purposeful to me as well as gives patients the level of comfort knowing that their provider genuinely cares for their well-being and circumstances.
Through my past leadership experiences, I have shown that I am a good communicator and able to work well with others. For example, I was president of the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) for a year. Every Greek life organization on my campus is a member of one of the four Greek life councils. My organization is one of the twelve organizations comprising the MGC. The MGC is a foundation of organizations that have a common purpose of spreading cultural awareness
