My Special Place, the Beach

On a nice summer day, the beach is where I want to be. The beach holds a special meaning to me because it is the place that my family took vacations to when I was younger. My family would go out to the beach and rent a beach home to spend the weekend there. The beach was such a relaxing place to go, I still like going as an adult. We enjoyed doing family activities, as well as walking around the pavilion and taking part in the carnival activities.
I remembered walking along the beach with the grittiness of the sand beneath my feet and between my toes. The closer I walked towards the nice warm water the sand starts to harden, making it easier to walk. While I am standing there the warm water comes closer and starts to sink my feet into the sand; when I start walking it like pulling my feet out of newly poured cement.
As I walked back to my beach chair under this huge colorful umbrella, I see an array of different people. Everyone is doing something that is exciting to them. I see a couple strolling along the beach holding hand and talking. There’s the couple who looks as if it is the baby’s first time at the beach. She has on a cute little hat to try and block the rays of the sun from her face. There is a family who is seeing who can make the biggest sand castle; while other kids are trying to bury Dad in the sand. Volleyball is on one side, while a couple of guys are throwing the football on the other.
On the pier there are older gentlemen, with their fishing rod hanging in hopes to catch a fish; just to throw it back into the ocean. You can also hear the laughter of children having fun in hot summer sun, while throwing Frisbees and balls. The taste of the salt water in my mouth as the water splashes up into my face. Out in the distance you are able to see, speed boats zooming along in the far distance. You are also able to see cargo ships, making their way to their final destination. The seagulls are also having fun as they pick up the leftover food that was left from the family who had a basket lunch while sitting on the beach.
The sound of the waves hitting against each other, is a nice soothing sound. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. The environment is a family-oriented, for the new family as well as the older families. As the day ends, children with sleepy eyes are crying because they are not ready to leave the beach, just yet. It has been a very adventurous day for them, but they don’t want to come back tomorrow they want to stay longer today. The beach is a place, where you are able to sit and take your mind away from life’s trouble and stress. These are the memories I had of my special places, and one day I hope my children will enjoy the beach and make it a special family place.

One of my favorite places is to fish at Ocean City Maryland on the shore. The beach is about an hour and fifteen minutes away from my house in Carroll County, Maryland. Ever since I was little, I would frequently visit the beach and loved how many different things there were. Some of the things I did when coming down for a day or staying at my cousins is fish, boogie board, dig for sand crabs, surf, or play soccer on the beach. All of these activities are my favorite, but surf fishing for sharks around five o’clock in the evening is my favorite in the middle of summer.…

As I walked along the shoreline of the beach looking for colorful sea glass and shark teeth, I observed canopies and tents set up a mile long on the beach. Families were gathered for a fun filled summer day. Children were building sand castles and splashing in the water, people young and old were lying on beach towels basking in the sun, couples were holding hands while walking along the shoreline taking in the beautiful scenery, and ATV’s and golf carts were driving by. I came to a stop for a second and closed my eyes just to take in what Mother Nature has given us, the surroundings were beautiful. It looked like it was a painted picture, while standing there the smell of…

As you approach the seaside, you are captivated by its beauty. The breathtaking panoramic view is enough to make your knees go weak. The bright, round sun blinds you as it appears rising and climbing like a yellow lemon on the horizon. The radiant rays of the neon sun reflect off of the untouched white sand that covers the ground as far as the eye can perceive. These perfectly placed grains of sand shine like flawlessly polished diamonds. Emerging from the pale sand are enormous jagged, kaki colored palm tree trunks that stand as tall as skyscrapers. Oversized, razor-sharp, emerald leaves hang from the tops while swaying back and forth in the light ocean breeze. The ocean water sparkles and glitters playfully like twinkling stars flickering in the night sky. The sights alone are enough to soften your soul with tranquility.…

Waking up to the sound of the waves crashing, vendors on the beach are offering fresh cold coconuts; children are playing in the warm, equatorial water. The beach is serene and quiet compared to the wild parties of the night before. The sun is warming; the world is coming alive and the day beginning. You walk a little further and accommodate your route to avoid the build up of smashed bottles in the sand. A homeless man lies ahead of you. A plastic bag washes up on the shore along with a dead blowfish.…

As I waltzed on the beach, squishing down the hot buttery-yellow sand that gave off the hot sensation of a burning grill sizzling my feet, I was immediately taken by the scent of freshly sliced fruits and freshly picked flowers. As you move along, brightly colored fruit stalls filled the sidewalks from which fresh fruit is cut. From a fruit stand, the scent travelled all across the beach with the help of the cool breeze which allowed the scent to fill the air. With my eyes closed, I breathed in the ocean bliss that paraded the beach. As I turn towards the sea, I was amazed. It was a deep blue in some areas but in others a glistening turquoise green. As I made my way towards the water as it laps over each time it reaches to the shore, overhead I heard the frantic screech of seagulls like a sharp knife dragged along a glass. As you dive into the deep blue ocean you can feel and taste the chilly, cool and refreshing water surrounding your body as chills ran down my back. Further from the beach there was a volcano that looked like a giant firework to…

Walking around the beach made me feel more comfortable than ever. As I stroll along, I could feel the soft smooth sand beneath my feet. The sand looked clean like sugar spread out for miles, as it squished between our toes and made my calves ache with every step. The sound of the ocean comforted me, the rhythmic pounding of the waves represses all my worries. I kicked the water and it responded with a swoosh of its waves. That brought back memories, when I used to come here with my friends and used to play around in the water. I couldn’t help but faint a smile. I found it some what amusing to see the sand castles that still remained, the ones we built long ago, the lucky few that made it through reckless little boys play. It was dark outside and stars floated in the distance, but the moon seemed so close, I could grab it and take it in my pocket to keep for myself, so close that I could see it's bright shadow shimmering on the rolling water. Ghost crabs darted past my feet like thieves in the night, going in one hole and out another. One of them climbed to my feet, its legs harmlessly piercing through my skin. I shook it off and it quickly escaped to the nearest hole it could find.…

The beach’s ambience was relaxing yet hectic. Parents were lying on their large beach towels, soaking in the sun such as a sponge would absorb water. It is approximately six in the afternoon on this bright shiny day in September. Today is a day like no other, for today we will experience the beauty and grace of the beach at night. For quite some time I've been meaning to experience this illusive phenomenon at night. With all the rumors about the beach being a gloomy and mysterious place under the moon lit sky, I just had to see for myself. The thought of reaching the beach was so tantalizing, that anxiety overwhelmed me. I packed the basic beach utensils; beach towels, sun block, playing cards, a guitar and firewood, therefore was set. The only ingredients missing now for my trip to the beach were my friends, and soon quickly found the solution by picking them up. Along the way, the bumpers of cars were visible for miles, as traffic filled the lanes of the 91 and 55 freeways.…

It was nearly sunset and I was relaxing along the soothing beach in Capitola, California. My brother and sister were assembling sand and shells to make a colossal sand city while my parents were in two chairs chatting. Swaying in the wind, was a yellow flag; letting me know that the water was moderate but safe to enter. Once I could see the sand I removed my shoes and socks and prepared to feel the warmth of the sand between my toes. Warm, grainy sand hid between my toes and cling to my feet as I made my way to the water. Using the sound of the waves as company, I meandered along the shore. I was thinking of a way to embrace my assignment; I had to spend time alone. It was time for me to appreciate doing nothing.…
