Just to mention some positive vibes, since I landed in America: I now have a wonderful new family, new friends, teachers and professors, graduated from high school with a diploma, in my third year at Brandeis University, a Boston marathon runner, in relationship (with a wonderful loving, caring, and a beautiful future partner), and

It was all I wanted, after all I could leave my violent country and finally come to the land of the free and the home of the brave. No matter how you put it the expectation for this country around the world is overwhelming. As for me coming to the United State was part of my everyday dreams. As you know, I have been blessed to be on this journey with a wonderful man, my, dear, sweetheart, Frank.…

As it was 2005 I was very excited to arrive in Abroad for the first time and I was extremely glad because I arrived in one of my favorite countries. For me USA was a wide place of opportunities where I had an open hand to compose an exceptional future. I was glad and a little sad too because I assumed it kind of delicate compromise to leave all my relatives behind in my country and come here but the race of life make man learn and adjust in.…

America, land of the free and home of the brave, a country strengthened with rights, equality, and justice. For Americans it’s just a regular country, with regular rules and laws, nothing special about it. Although, to immigrants it’s a country to reinterpret their lives, a better life, a life where they’re free to pursue their happiness and follow their dreams. Even though America is a great country, adjusting to a new culture isn’t easy. It took patience, support, understanding, and passion in order for me to balance two different cultures.…

Wow. In this photo I had absolutely no words for the excitement I felt that day. I mean who wouldn’t be excited when you’ve achieved a lifelong dream of yours to become Valedictorian of your 8th grade class. Many people approved, disapproved etcetera and either way I honestly could care less. I finally have achieved years of hardship and standards to finally prove to myself and others that I can “Do all things through christ that gives me strength.” I have learned to move past and accept myself for who I am and that was the best I could’ve done. I utterly cannot explain the weight that has been lifted up from my shoulders to know that I don’t have to prove myself to anyone but me and the lord. I know what I want to do in life and that has been…

In 2014 I came to America to study. It had been the first time I ever traveled somewhere without my parents and it was a much farther distance than I had ever traveled before. My English wasn't the best and I wasn't sure of how I would handle American customs and culture. When my student visa was approved I was very excited and very nervous, it was a big moment for me. When the time came I boarded my plane and made the journey to America. My time here has been very hard but also very fortunate for me. I have been able to study just like I had planned and I have been able to live in several different states which I am very grateful for. Over time I have been able to improve my English, thus giving me the ability to have a proper conversation with someone I may have met on a random day at the store or during my time in class.…
