My shining moment was one of the most memorable days of my life when I helped my team to win the Inter-school Soccer Championship. It was also an awesome day for my school. Many dignitaries such as the Mayor came because it was such a big event in the county. The atmosphere was great; the crowd was wild, cheering, whistling, blowing trumpets, and playing music. The match started with the opponents scoring two first half goals, the score line was even by me scoring two goals, laid up the assist for the third, and we won the championship. To begin with, this shining moment started at 9:00 am. My teammates and I went to the locker room to have a pre-match meeting with the Coach where we discussed about the starting formation, the starting eleven, and substitutes. Next, the team went to the training field to do some light workouts and tactics for an hour. Then we went back to the locker room and the coach gave us a motivational speech, also asked me to be the captain and talked to us about the popularity, the physical and mental strength of our opponents and we all went to our respective classes. By 12:00 noon, the bell rang and a loud noise erupted throughout the whole school because the time had come to go and cheer the soccer team. Also, the atmosphere was electrifying and I felt motivated and excited to do my best and bring the trophy back home. Next the team stood beside the school bus and got supporting handshakes from the proprietress. Eventually, we got into the buses with whole team and the entire school and we sang, played music, and chatted as we went to the stadium. When we got to the stadium, it was loud and packed, the parking lot was filled even some cars couldn’t find parking spots. Then, we went off the bus and went to the locker room; we changed and went to the field and set ourselves in the

"The Shining" by Stanley Kubrick One of the most ambiguous movies shot by Stanley Kubrick is “The Shining” – a horror film, that tells a story of a family that has moved into a hotel called the Overlook, which was inhabited by ghosts. Throughout the film, the plot develops around the Torrance family: Jack, Wendy, and their son Danny. Kubrick based the film on a novel written by Steven King. The literary source is rather thrilling and intriguing, and the film can be basically given the same positive…

All of the very base elements of horror are certainly still present inThe Shining. There is a villain, who (or that) is out to destroy someone (it is arguable whether the hotel wants to destroy Jack or his family, or both). There is certainly a supernatural element, made all the more intriguing by the mention of the Indian burial ground, and the ambiguous ghostly ending. Kubrick even alludes to the supernatural or ghost element through his use of cutting. When Stuart Ullman (Barry Nelson) and Bill…

Shadow Land “All cruelty springs from weakness” (Lucius Annaeus Seneca). So is true for Stephen King’s character Jack Torrence in The Shining. Jack’s character is weak and flawed and because of this he is unsuccessful at being strong. On the other hand, Danny, Jack’s son, is very innocent but very strong in character, which helps him to defeat the evil that lives in the Overlook hotel. Analysis of the Shining In the Shining, Stephen King’s idea was to show the reader that they don’t have to go looking in dark alleys for terrible monsters or demonic creatures, because in every human there is a chance for monsters to develop in ones mind. He also points out that a weak mind plus psychological problems, can allow exterior pressures to force you to think or do certain actions. In this novel the Torrance family settles in an isolated Colorado hotel, the Overlook. Jack Torrance,…
