I have completed my seven habits profile and my scores in all areas range from 13 to 15. I feel that the profile says a lot about me as a person and as a leader. This shows in categories 1 and 2 of the seven habits profile my life balance and emotional bank account are in good standing and I am very proud of myself for being able to maintain those balances. I also am very confident in my scores in sections 6, 7, and 8 of the seven habits profile. Those sections are think win-win, seek first to understand, and synergize. In my current position I do oversee a small group of people, and if conflict arises I do try to utilize my skills in sections 6, 7, and 8 of the seven habits profile. This is a book dedicated by Sean Covey to the youngsters, helping them to improve self-development. This book has surprisingly caught my attention because the 7 habits stated in this book are really small matters in our lives, but we often tend to ignore them. The author also gave different real life examples to demonstrate how we could apply these habits in our daily lives.…

“How timely! How needed it is for one of the finest human beings, industrial leaders, and philanthropists on the planet to compellingly drill down on timeless, universal values for business and life. This book edifies, inspires, and motivates all of us to model these common sensical lessons for our organizations, all our relationships, and especially our posterity—for what is common sense is obviously not common practice. Primary greatness is character and contribution. Secondary greatness is how most people define success—wealth, fame, position, etc. Few have both. Jon’s one of them.”…

I will stay committed to completing the mission by completing all tasks, and show my competence by improving existing skills. I’ll have to prove my integrity by complying with all standards and regulations. By demonstrating initiative, I will prove myself as a follower by exceeding benchmarks. My weakness in “The Five Essential Qualities for Followership” is my integrity. I lack integrity at times because I take shortcuts and skip steps in directions. Improving on my weaknesses is important because I want all my teammates to see me as a competent and knowledgeable worker. By correcting my integrity to follow directions, they will confide in me for accurate advice and never doubt that I can complete the…

Covey which is work sessions are based on the content from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, which is considered one of the most impactful books ever written on personal effectiveness, leadership development and change. If you are like most Christian professors, you have felt a burden for your colleagues and have wanted to reach out to them, to minister to them -- especially those closest to you. Perhaps you just haven't done so because you haven't been able to think of an appropriate way. One of the real keys of ministry is to address felt needs. Perhaps the universally perceived need of professors in academia is time management, effectiveness. What better way to minister to busy colleagues who are all under pressure to produce than to offer to help them become more effective. Dr. Joseph (Rae) Mellichamp, professor emeritus of the University of Alabama, created a set of discussion notes for the highly popular book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People that has proven useful in ministering to colleagues.…

I believe I have some good qualities that will help me to achieve my overall goal of being successful in everything that I do. The fact that I have the discipline to dedicate myself to any particular task is a great trait. While I know discipline and dedication are two great individual traits when they are combined I like to believe the meaning changes. To me it means that no matter the obstacles large or small, difficult or easy, I will stare down the face of challenges and not give in or up until my task is complete and obligation is fulfilled. The Ethical Lens Inventory (2012) says that my classical value is fortitude, “You demonstrate courage and steadiness in the face of obstacles”. This is a fair assessment of my personality. I will always fight for what I stand for and or believe in. Another trait I have that I think is important to my success is my willingness to learn from others. For every circumstance there is a negative and or positive and you I can learn from both. We have all heard the saying “You have to be a good follower to be a good leader.” There is no way you can acquire a managerial position and be good at it without being under an example of a good leader. So with the willingness to…

I am an achiever. There is almost nothing more important to me than having a strong work ethic, not only in a work environment, but also finding a way to include it in my everyday life. I strongly believe that hard work pays off, and there isn’t anything I am not capable of doing as long as I give it my best. First off, my first job was working at a small Italian restaurant when I was only fifteen years old, and I could only keep the job at that age if I got a waiver from my school counselor showing that I was still doing well in my studies. I did my best to manage going to high school, playing soccer, and still finding the energy to show up to work in the evenings. It wasn’t easy, but it gave me a sense of accomplishment at a young age. I remember having to work the overnight shift doing inventory at my second job during my senior year, and still somehow I found the energy to study and make it to school on time. Secondly, I started working at a restaurant equipment store after high school, having been given the title of “receptionist”, only to find out that the job would include much more than just the general office duties that usually come along with this type of position. Not only was I responsible for completing my work that came along with the job, but also to be a personal assistant to the every need of the business owner. At one point I even found myself taking his mother home from an unexpected trip to the emergency room after a routine check-up. My boss and her other children were unfortunately too busy, and I felt responsible for making sure that she had someone there for her. One last example of being an achiever is my dedication and punctuality when it comes to having a job. I do not believe in…

There are two very important things I try to always remember when trying to balancing work and school. Responsibility which plays a big part in having good time management. If I am not responsible then it doesn’t mean anything. I have learned to be responsible and try to keep up my school work. To be responsible you must have determination. Determination to me is a very important skill when trying to stay focused on school. Part of being responsible is staying on task with what needs to be done. You need determination to complete your goals and the best way to do that is don’t forget what you are working for. For example I am finding it very hard to stay focused while working and taking care of my everyday things in life. I always remind myself of how important, what I am working for. I know that school can be tough to maintain on top of family and friends but also I know that it plays a vital part in my objective. So staying determined in excelling in school always comes first and as long as I remember that, I can balance my life much easier. My name is Kristina. I am in my late twenties, I live with my partner and have no kids. Right now I am working at a resort doing front desk and also working at Jiffy Lube and attending school so you can say I work 3 jobs. I have a pretty set schedule wake up go to work and come home. Every day I have to try to make time for my studies. So, it is important to make the decisions selecting careers and jobs, allocating roles and responsibilities that will provide the opportunity for balance. The real task of balance takes place on a weekly and daily basis. So many people like me stress so much because of this task but they don't know it can be very simple. Like myself lots of people do not have the time to go to a classroom when you have a jobs and/or a family to support and spend time…
