My Senior Project
Throughout all my hours working on my senior project which is volunteering at the Kids Unlimited after school program, I have achieved many duties that include being responsible for children. By doing that I had to show the kids how to be respectful, responsible and safe. I did many activities with the kindergarteners such as playing games, watching movies, coloring, helping with homework, and playing outside with them. The steps I took to plan this project of mine were to gain the skills and ability to be around little children. They follow those around them and so it is hard to make sure that all the workers/volunteers are not doing anything to show disrespect or immaturity to the children. Showing up was the most important step that had …show more content…
Yet a few more achievements have crossed the way. Being comfortable in that environment took some getting used to because it is hard to know what the kids can or can’t do and where things were located. Every school has different rules so it was difficult to know and memorize the rules but it all ended up well. I got very close to the kids as time went by and that is something I will always cherish. That is also something that had to be gained in the process of doing and getting used too. Another thing that was accomplished midway of my project was helping the kindergarteners with homework more often. Since the hours I was able to attend lead to volunteering at the after school program at Kids Unlimited which means they have more free time than they do learning wise because after school is different from what they do during school …show more content…
Being able to grow and process different situations helps because not everything will be the same for the rest of your life and this really helped since kids act different everyday and you never know what situation will come up but yet I had to find a way to solve it in that second it happened. It has helped me overcome many things like being comfortable, thinking quickly, not being afraid to ask question, and also being a leader. I accomplished this by doing what I had to do and trusting my first instinct. I had to get out of my comfort zone and just open up to the things I had to do to get better at

In 2006, CanGo began as a very small online retailer of books. The company’s founder and CEO, Liz Bennet, saw the internet as a great opportunity, and in her small apartment, she seized the moment. Ms. Bennet soon hired Warren Fox to assist in growing the company, and it was not long until the company began to expand. CanGo tapped into new markets, and now offers a wide selection of CDs, DVDs, and MP3s, as well as books.…

    My Fall Semester Project

I thought that this fall semester project was fairly simple in the process that my group took to completing it. For this document based question essay, my group has had prior knowledge of the topic we chose which was the British having control over the colonists during the American Revolution. Since we had prior knowledge on this subject, it was pretty easy finding documents that we could use for our document based question. Most of the documents we chose were ones that we have already learned about in previous history classes. For example, some of the documents were acts passed during this time like the Stamp Act. We knew the effect that each individual act had on the colonists which helped our decision making progress. Some of the other documents that we used we found on some good American history document websites. These websites had hundreds of documents that had to do with the British and the colonists affairs during the American Revolution which gave my group plenty to choose from. Even though there were hundreds to choose from, only some had to do with the question and subject we were working with so that narrowed them down quite a bit. After finding the first 15 documents, we narrowed down the list to 10, taking out the least important ones. Some of the 15 documents were obviously less important than others which made it a lot easier to narrow down. After narrowing down the documents, one of the more difficult parts of the project came which was grouping the documents into 3 groups for the essay. One obvious group for our documents was the "act group" which had all of the acts and laws restricting colonists to do certain things during that time. The second group was the "big events group" which had all of the major events that the British did when controlling the colonists like the Boston Tea Party or the Boston Massacre. The final group was the "map, charts, etc. group" which had the charts or…

In the United States wild fires are very common during the dry season also known as summer. Although they are occurring all over the united states I would like to bring your attention to the following states, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, Washington and also Idaho. In the past few fire seasons these states have had an increase in the number of fires that have been started due to natural storms and human related accidents. They are becoming more frequent due to the current conditions of the forests and lack of up keep on the vegetation. Along with the growing frequency of these fires the intensity level of the fires are also increasing as a result of the over populated forest. With the ever increasing fire intensity the forest firefighters are in more danger now than ever. To what extent should people begin to be concerned about the growing forest fire problem? People should become concerned when the problem is continuing to escalate and becoming a growing problem. This growing problems is beginning to effect myself first hand due to where I live also with my family members who are in the wildfire fighting field. My oldest brother Chris works for Boise Dispatch, My brother Hoby is on an engine crew in McCall Idaho, My youngest brother works for Pat- Rick fire crew out of Boise Idaho, and lastly my father Dale works for Thunder Mountain Catering. They cater to the firefighters stationed on the larger fires so that they don't have to eat MRE's (Dehydrated meals ready to eat). Also during the fire season the air is thick with a gray haze covering the Treasure valley. This often happens when there are numerous fires burning around the area. Due to the current conditions of the forests these fires are becoming more frequent and also more intense.…

My Name is Brittany Larkin and for my senior project I have chosen to do How Music Impacts Drugs on My Community. My motivation for this project is that today’s society has changed over the years, and more and more I see not only some of my fellow classmates, and my friends, but my family members’ usage of drugs impact over the years. One day I’m walking home from school and a group of young boys about my little brothers age so I say about 11-12 years old smoking and rapping “ I said wait hold up please let me roll up” and thinking to myself did that music make them want to smoke drugs or was it the drugs that decided the type of music they listened to. More and more new songs about drugs have come out come out for example the molly dance, and I myself have noticed ever since the song has been released more and more people find it fascinating to want to do a “Molly” because it seemed cool and the rappers. People they look up to have tried it or claimed they tried it. I think it’s not just rap music though that impacts drugs; I think every genre has a different impact on drugs. That’s another reason why I chose this particular project to see if it’s just rap music, and if indeed it is I want to know what are the different solutions we can take to change this. Maybe less drugs and more successful things in music like staying in…

I am a parent volunteer in a Church of England primary and nursery school. I am currently supporting the mixed year 1 and 2 classes. I work on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8.45 -12 pm. I have a variety of different supporting roles within the classroom not just with the helping the teachers but also the pupils, school and curriculum. I feel like my life has followed a very similar pattern to that of Louise Dix in that ‘’when my children went to school I started going on school trips’ and ‘it inspired me to do more. I just love working with children’ (Hancock & Colloby, 2013, p9) I mainly work with small groups 4/5 children and as I am there in the mornings this is when the children have literacy, math’s and phonics.…

When working with young children we need to adjust our behaviour and communication to the situation we are in for example going down to a child’s level when speaking to them so they don’t feel intimidated by you. Coming across as approachable to a child is very important so they can feel confident around you and feel like they trust you. All children need to feel they are safe and appreciated and when we interact with them we should make sure we demonstrate this. It is important that we establish these relationships early on and that we continually behave this way with them, praising children is very important. All children of all abilities and cultures need to feel they are valued and are in a valued and a secure environment, you should exhibit this when interacting with them. It is important that your relationship with the children you work with starts off right! This means implementing ground rules and mutual respect from the start. You need to show interest and concern when interacting with children this can help to build trust. For example if a child is playing with building blocks on the floor I would ask them an open question that included praise like “that’s interesting, can you tell me what’s going on in the picture?” This encourages autonomy for the child to think for themselves and explore their own ideas and use of vocabulary. Offering choice to the child is important because more independent thinkers, and when they choose something they thrive at and enjoy this improves their self-esteem.…
