My Personal Theory Of Education
The field of education has many questions with many answers. As a future educator, it is my duty to answer those question. These questions can range anywhere from “Can I go to the bathroom?” to “what should teachers be teaching?” My personal theory of education is based on my experience in the field, my experiences as a student, what I have learned as a future educator, and other life experience, so my theory, like many other educational theories, is different and unique. My theory will answer questions involving what should be taught, who should teach, when should students learn, how students learn, how teachers should teach, and what should be included in the curriculum. These are classes on life skills. These classes can be the difference between having a successful smooth transition into adulthood or having tougher time with the transition. A class that changed my life was a class on personal finance. In my senior year of high school, I took this class to fill a credit and I learned so much on how to manage my money, as well as how to look to the future in spending and saving. Now today, I have managed my funds efficiently enough to have no loans in colleges, as well as the start of retirement account in a Roth IRA. Other life skills that I believe students should learn in school, are how to change a tire, how to check your oil, how to balance a check book, how to cook easy nutritional meals, as well as how to do your taxes. All these life skills and more should be taught in schools in order to create independent …show more content…
First and foremost a teacher must have a passion for teaching. That is the absolutely most important thing, it does not matter what age, race, sex, or religion, a passion for teaching and improving the lives of youths is the most important thing. I believe if an individual has a passion for teaching and an in depth knowledge of the topic they can be a teacher. The only people who I have a problem with being a teacher are those who may be a distraction to the class. An example would be if a teacher was constantly having a mental break downs about her anxious cat and could not put a full professional effort into teaching the students. Another great quality of a teacher would be a teacher who is culturally sensitive. If a teacher can reach every student because they are culturally sensitive to that students needs, then they have the potential for being a great teacher. If a teacher has the positive qualities above, then they can be a good teacher however, in order to be a great teacher they must do certain things to create an effective and equitable classroom. In this classroom setting a teacher must practice patience and tolerance of their students. I know for a fact that this alone is challenge. In order to make this less of challenge the teacher and students must come together to create expectations in the classroom, as well as a routine that the students will follow on a daily basis. This

    In one form or another, philosophies of education have existed throughout many years of our history, dating back much further than the development of the first classroom. From the beginning, the philosophy of education has existed in some sense, whether with the past educational practices of survival of a specific population or culture in a home setting, or the state regulated educational system and practices existing today. While the philosophy of education is a very diverse subject involving many questions, concerns, debates, and opinions, it can be primarily summed up by defining the philosophy of education as an ongoing conversation about the important issues and concerns focusing in education, and involving teachers, students, learning, and knowledge. Many classical educational philosophies exist today, including old to newly recent additions, but as an educator of anything to anyone, it is important to own a personal educational philosophy to help make everyday decisions throughout a career. Many personal philosophies may run similar, but because every individual has their own individuality, ideas, knowledge, experience, and opinion, no two personal philosophies share all of the same views. With some philosophies, theories are teacher-centered, and with others, student-centered, but they all have the same goal: and the goal is to provide students with the best education possible.     Some people say that we don’t need “hobby classes” and adding elective classes is not a good use of the schools money. If we have more classes that students enjoy attendance may go up, grades may go up and overall enjoyment of school for students may increase.     Opportunity abounds for elementary education in the twenty-first century, given the multitude of academic theorists who pioneered a number of indispensable approaches. The extent to which elementary education must be tailored to a combination of one’s cultural and social environment is both grand and far-reaching; that no single teaching method can purport to reach each and every child speaks to the need for incorporating the benefits of more than one approach in any given classroom environment.
