There are several Management practices at my job. We use planning, leading, organizing, and controlling all the time in the military. I am a Flight Chief and I use a lot more of the leading function lately than any other function. I have been in several positions throughout my career and I would say the main function of management I have used over the last 18 years is controlling.

The Air force began the planning process of my career when I walked in the recruiter’s office in Washington State. Next I was shipped off to Lack land Air force base in Texas where I was a new basic trainee in the air force. That is where the military uses the management function planning. The military plans the training that they would like the recruits to go through. That way we are trained the same way. The military sets the same goals for the basic trainee to obtain. The military has a set program that was 6 weeks long when I came in but has expanded to 8 now. During this program they give you the skills to set and begin a solid foundation for a promising future.

AbstractThe Army uses all four functions of management through a Chain of Command. All leaders throughout the military use at least one function, but multiple leaders working together covers all functions. Always someone is planning, organizing, leading, or controlling. The reason the United States Military is so effective is because leadership and management always try to stay a step ahead. The rank structure provides a guideline to how much a soldier manages. More rank brings more responsibility, more respect, and more use of each function. Though not all functions are needed to be a manager, a good manager does need all four. The Chain of Command is the best example to show leadership, management, and the four functions - plan, organize,…

From the beginning, Elie Wiesel's work details the threshold of his adult awareness of Judaism, its history, and its significance to the devout. His emotional response to stories of past persecution contributes to his faith, which he values as a belief system rich with tradition and unique in its philosophy. A divisive issue between young Elie and Chlomo is the study of supernatural lore, a subset of Judaic wisdom that lies outside the realm of Chlomo's pragmatism. To Chlomo, the good Jew attends services, prays, rears a family according to biblical dictates, celebrates religious festivals, and reaches out to the needy, whatever their faith.…

    1. To what extent should teachers take impediments (like drugs and divorce as mentioned in Mary Sherry’s article “In Praise of the ‘F’ Word”) into account when grading students? Are there certain situations that call for leniency or should out-of-school forces affecting students not be considered? To gain perspective on this issue, interview several friends, classmates, and instructors and research what other professionals are saying. Then write an essay in which you argue your position. Provide specific examples to support your arguments, being sure to acknowledge and (when possible) refute opposing viewpoints.…

The Fourth of July has been celebrated, for hundreds of years, as the independence of America from its oppressor Great Britain. This day signifies a day of victory and triumph over the injustice that reigned over the newly formed colonies. However, Frederick Douglass in his lecture What to the Slave is the Fourth of July? portrays the sadness and disdain that he feels for this day. Having once lived under the chains of slavery, Douglass is especially aware of the hypocrisy that this nation takes part in as it celebrates liberty, justice and independence. Douglass fervently critiques the institution of American slavery and the ideals behind it by depicting the mockery and hypocrisy behind the beliefs that protect the chains of slavery upon innocent human biengs.…

Why should someone be rewarded just because they 'risked their life'? There is nothing about risking your life that makes you inherently deserve reward, you could risk your life jumping off a bridge and that isn't worthy of reward, only ridicule. I think you should focus on how they're risking their lives often to save their families imo, or that their lives are already at risk in their home countries.…

When I joined the Air Force, who knew what to expect. As soon as you get to basic training you have to adapt and overcome. Those words are something I have lived but since day one. In basic you learn quick that a cardboard cutout can make folding your shirts in a perfect eight inch square a breeze. Lining up beds and shoes can be simple if you have a long enough piece of string to stretch down the bays of beds. In a way we were able to use people for this characteristic as well. Like choosing a few troops that are good at shining shoes or folding the shirts to help the individuals that may not be so great at it.…
