My Orange Blanket
My Orange Blanket
In today’s society usually people are either a cat person or a dog person and a rare few like both, but they still always have a favorite either way. Dogs are portrayed as man’s best friend, gentle animals that will always be there for you. Cats, on the other hand, are displayed throughout the Internet in all kinds of ways. There are made up videos, pictures, and ads, anything that will catch your attention and make you laugh. Cats are simple awesome creatures. They have so many capabilities it is truly unbelievable. It is unfortunate for the number of people who are allergic to cats because they cannot enjoy their companionship like other individuals can.
I remember one day when my mother came home, I was playing a game with my dad, hide-and-seek to be specific, and I loved that game. I was about the age of four at this time and once my dad had found me I looked up to see my mom holding something. I was too short to see what it was; all I saw was a blanket. I thought it might have been a baby or something, who knows. My mom knelt down and I saw this gorgeous cat. I was so eager to hold her and play with her that I had an enormous smile across my face. The first thing I aspired to do was to embrace her, however, my mom told me I couldn’t quite yet because she was asleep and was probably a little frightened. Later on I found out that my mom got her at the humane society, so her fear was understandable. Her name was Patsy. She was a Turtle Shell Calico cat, which meant she mainly had black fur with brown, white, and copper colored spots and patches all over her body. She had piercing green eyes and a tiny pink nose. Little did I know that this cat would eventually be one of my greatest friends. As the years went on, Patsy and I grew closer everyday. I would come home from school and she would usually lie around my room with me. Seeing her face was one of the things I looked forward to everyday. She always seemed happy running around, trying

This is my cat ‘‘Buttercup’’. You might wonder: Why that name? Well, when I founded him, it was unavoidable to match his muddy yellow coat with the bright flower. He had a mashed-in nose, half of one ear missing and eyes the color of rotting squash. According to my older sister, Katniss, Buttercup was the world’s ugliest cat but it did not matter, because I knew that in the bottom of her heart she was starting to love him. Besides, he was a great help at home, for he was a born mouser. So, we did not have vermin problems anymore. Furthermore, Buttercup was very special for me; he made me feel safe when I had nightmares during the…

By the time I was three, my parents had decided to get a family pet for us. Our neighbor’s chow chow had just had puppies so we took one of them and named him Bear because he was black, fluffy and resembled a little bear cub. I have very fond memories of him and one certain one comes to mind every now and then. When I was around the age of seven, I would climb on Bear’s back and he would carry me around the backyard. Looking back, I can remember feeling so on top of the world and full of excitement. He was one of my best friends growing up and every day after school I would look forward to seeing him. In 2006, we moved and of course brought Bear along with us, but he wasn’t adapting well to his new home. Within the first couple months we were living here, he would eat the rocks in our backyard and after a while, we had to take him to a veterinarian to get the rocks out. Even after this happened, Bear continued to eat them and eventually passed away due to…
