My Observation Of Teddy In The Classroom
The child I chose to observe during the course of the semester, is Theodore, also known as Teddy in the classroom. He is in third grade in class 3-221. He is a male and nine years old. He is currently attending the school P.S.225, which is located at 1075 Oceanview Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11235. I chose Teddy because he really stands out in comparison to the entire class. Teddy is very cooperative and is a pleasure to have in class. I think he is very smart, always eager to participate. The entire class is filled with cute little third graders who are all smart and capable of doing what the teacher asks them to do. In my opinion, the work can be quite challenging at times since common core asks for the students to put in more effort.

Gross motor skills are large movements of the body that permit locomotion through and within the environment (McDevitt, pp. 164-165). Some examples of fine motor skills would be, tying shoes, zipping and unzipping, using scissors, drawing, writing, doing puzzles, coloring, e.t.c. Examples of gross motor skills would be running, walking, climbing up a tree, throwing a baseball, dribbling a basketball, jumping. Gross motor skills can be altered by playing video games excessively. Teddy’s fine motor skills are mainly writing, drawing, cutting with scissors, holding a book, holding a pencil. Teddy also writes very quickly, he is usually one of the first to finish the task at hand. Teddy’s gross motor skills are walking, running, skipping, jumping, hopping. Teddy doesn’t have any trouble with any fine or gross motor skills as far as I can tell. Teddy is able to eat food by himself, most likely able to dress himself, drawing shapes, folding paper and many more. Children who do have trouble with fine and gross motor skills get the attention they need to excel at

    I observed Mrs. Ball’s 7th grade science class at Helen Tyson Middle School on Thursday November 5, 2015. The classroom had a great climate and was decorated with interesting scientific educational material. She had the desks set up in organized rows with two kids per table.
