My Mother in My Eyes

As I thought about who had had the greatest impact on my life, my mother automatically came to mind. She is the one who suffered to bring me into this world. I have learned to love her from the day I was born. My mother has, without any doubt had the greatest impact on my life. I have watched her struggle with running a household with two children on her own and working a part-time job at the same time. Even when all was well, my mother put her children before anything else. Her heart, determination, and courage are all things that I can only hope to have myself one day. My mother has shown me that with courage and strength anyone can accomplish anything. My mother was the first person to teach me to draw and say my abc’s, and she was with me when I decided I wanted to run not walk! She has taught me to believe in myself and always follow my dreams. She never hesitated to drop everything to rush my brother and me to dance, soccer, choir or karate. I could always look out from the stage of a choir concert or dance recital and see her sitting in the front row applauding whenever we finished a song or dance. She has always been the one to tell me to keep going when I was ready to give up. She always made sure that I was safe and happy throughout my childhood as well as she does now. It is hard to describe to you the feeling that I have toward my mother. My mother has given me an unthinkable lot of support since I was born, whether it was more visible support or a simple ‘I love you’ when she knew I had a bad day. She is always willing to sit and listen to us kids, regardless of what we have to say. Not only did my mother support my brother and I but she was also what held the whole family structure together. One of the most important qualities that I have acquired from my mother is not to let what others say about us affect us in a negative way.
