My Mom Is My Greatest Influence College Essay
My Mother Is My Greatest Influence in My Life

I’ve learned through the eyes of my mother that life isn’t easy. My mother has come a long way after losing her mother at a very young age and growing up with her father and grandmother and five siblings, one being a twin. My mom’s dad had to make sacrifices while raising my mom and her siblings; it wasn’t easy growing up without her mother, my mom put herself through college with the help of her dad. My mom has a successful career and is married and is raising a happy family. Initially I thought of a celebrity as a person with the most influence in my life, but as I thought about it, I realized my mother has had the most influence in my life, always smiling, laughing and having fun. When my mother is around it’s always a fun time with her, sometimes I have to say “ok, mom enough” and we laugh. My mother is always lifting others up and she always has an encouraging word for someone. My mother by far has had the greatest and most lasting impact on me; she is always there for me and has never let me down. My mother is the epitome of what it means to love unconditionally. She loves my siblings and I no matter what we do; she is always there for us and always gives us an encouraging word or quoting a verse from the Bible. My mother is the most caring person that I know, always helping people and praying for those in need. My mother would give her last to someone who needs it, especially if it means making his or her life easier. My mother would go as far as helping out her worst enemy, which I don’t think I could do, when I listen to my mom on the telephone sometimes she always has a positive attitude about everything regardless of what’s going on in her life. She is always willing to volunteer and help the needy. In her limited free time, my mom enjoys running marathons in order to raise money for charities she supports. She raised over $3,000 for the cancer society when she ran her first marathon

People have had someone to influence them in their lifetime at some time or another, but my biggest influence in my life is my mom. I can’t but admire my mom’s strength and her wisdom. I am a strong believer in the saying “like father", “like son" goes with both genders, however, I do think that this is more a result of following example rather than a result genetics. It is common knowledge that not everyone is perfect, even heroes, and in realizing this I know. Although I wish to be like my mom in most ways I do not at all. This realization may be one of the most important things I have learned, my mom has taught me to be firm in my decisions in life, not solely on the examples and actions of others but simply on what I gather and learn from the examples and actions of others. In other words, she has taught me not to follow blindly but to make my own decisions based on what I think is important. The things I have learned and continue to learn from my mom are continuous; she has taught me all of the founding principles of my life and for that I am very thankful. My mom has an enormous influence on me because she always encourages me to do my best, taught me to be a survivor and finally mom influences me by is always helping needy.…

I was privileged growing up, but not in the sense that I had the “right” skin color or that my family grew up wealthy. I grew up privileged because my family valued books and knowledge. My childhood was spent the majority of the time at the library and I was constantly surrounded by books at home. My whole family’s lives were in books and they were found to be an oddity because they treasured books over material items. Growing up in this environment, I mimicked their philosophy. When my mom came home with a wagon filled with books, I was walking next to her with a stack in my arms. My mom is a writer, so it wasn’t hard knowing I wanted to be one as well. The idea that I could write just like what I grew up reading was so clear to me that that was my passion.…

Everyone knows the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” for as long as they can remember. This question is asked as soon as a child starts school at a young age and is continually asked by parents, teachers, and peers throughout one's education. Trying to figure out what career path to take can be easy or extremely hard for someone, especially if there is no influence from a peer or family member. Just like everyone else, I have struggled to find the correct career for myself throughout my life. I am happy to say that even though deciding on a career path has been difficult, I can say that I have had a mentor that has strongly influenced me in the direction that I am heading today.…

When I was about six years old, my mom went into a psychic’s shop. My mother was afraid of nothing, but having never been to one, you could tell she was nervous. The lady was older, she had a kind face and a kind smile. She read my moms palms and talked about the recent stress my mother was under, as it does fall on a newly single mother. When it came to my mother's children, she told her 4 futures, one for each of my sibling and myself. One would become a lawyer, one stay home and would start a family, one would travel far from home, and one would be famous. This was a topic of argument in our family and we still can't decide who is who. I only knew one thing in my life: I had to be the one to travel far away.…
