My Little Girl By Tim Mcgraw: Song Analysis
Growing up with one parent is hard, but growing up thinking that they separated because of you is harder. I always thought that my parents separated because of me. I have thought that for the past eleven years that I was the cause and the problem. Though it was hard growing up with my mom; every few years I would be able live with to my dad. He lived in Washington most of my life: Spokane, Wallawall, and Yakima- mostly because of the army. When I was about eight, my sibling and I would travel to visit him every summer and spend no more than two weeks with him. At first it was pretty easy we could go anywhere and get anything we wanted; we did not have to think of anyone else. When I was about ten, my dad would keep asking what would happen …show more content…
Music influences people in different ways, for me it influenced my life by allowing me to realize that I can express myself through other people’s words. For instance, when I started seventh grade I heard a song called “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. At first, when I heard this song I started to cry because I automatically heard my Dad’s voice apologizing for what happened. This song has influenced my life because it was always there for me when I needed a father’s reassurance. Music has always been there for me when no one was or when I needed advice to keep going. Music allows people to put their experiences in a song that makes sense to them. Music comes in different genres but they do the same thing, allow people to express themselves when it is hard for them to do that on their …show more content…
Most of the lyrics have a way of positively striking you in the feelings. For instance, when you are growing up your parents talk about how cute you were when you were born, my Dad would say that I looked like a bowl of sugar because I was so white, and that is why when Tim McGraw says, “ I thought you looked like an angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm.” These lyrics express that from a young age parents have always loved their child, and that they will always be there for them. These lyrics allow a child to understand that they will always be loved. Music has allowed me to express my feelings through someone else's song because I was never able to express how I felt. I have always been a person to just bottle things until I exploded. Music has influenced me to find something, as simple as a song, and just let my feelings go out into the

For my song I picked Garth Brooks “The River.” I consider this song to be very meaningful. This song is about chasing your dreams and never giving up on what you believe in, reminding us that life is shorter than we think and if we just stand on the shore watching the river go by, then life will be gone before we know it. Garth Brooks uses a lot of psychological concepts in this song, such as, Attitude, Affect, Motivation, Optimism, and Behavior. Garth Brooks says, “A dream is like a river.” A dream changes, just like a river changes. As life changes, the river can be calm then strong then calm again, so our path in life change. Garth Brooks says that “He will sail his vessel until the river runs dry.” To me this mean no matter what life throws…

As a student in High School, there are many things that influence my learning and my ability to learn. Sports have the highest amount of influence on how I do in school. Emotionally music affects my life a lot in a positive way. When I am feeling down I notice I stay away from listening to country or slow music but rather upbeat rap or pop music with a positive meaning or even no meaning at all. Music gives me the feeling of being in power. I know this sounds funny but I control what I listen to. If I listen to positive music, I turn into a positive person even with the bad mood I’m in. “Dissonance introduces conflict into music” (pg. 18) According to The Enjoyment of Music combining sounds that don’t go together will create a different emotion than music that do harmonize. Another up lifting way music affects my everyday life is it allows me to learn about other people and other locations. It keeps me entertained when I’m bored. The difference between Jamaican music and country music shows examples of different parts of the world and what some differences are. PBS states that music helps “enhance skills used in other areas.” This means listening to music helped me grow as a person. Through out the week I enjoy working out. I listen to music to get pumped up and push me farther than I would go with out it. Music also affects my everyday life in negative ways too.…

When life tends to knock me down music has a way of uplifting and encouraging myself to try harder and never give up. My favorite kind of music to listen to whenever I need inspiration is contemporary Christian because not only does it keep me going but it pushes to me have more faith and trust in myself and the things I do. Sometimes I’ll arrive to a status in my life where I’ll feel stuck and don’t know what I’m capable of, music pulls me through it. Music in Our Lives

Music has always been a huge factor in my life. Not only does it serve as one of my greatest influences in the world, but it also defines who I am as a human being. It has helped mold me into the kind of person I am today, as well as the kind of person that I strive to become in the future. Music gives me the strength I need to push forward, to achieve my goals, and to believe that I have the power to change the fate of our world. Sometimes in my life, I just feel a rush of emotions sweeping through my mind, and I don’t know how to control them. That’s where music comes in. Music allows me to make sense of things. It enables me to express myself through the emotions that I am feeling. Through music, I am able to observe the world in a different light, which can be either negative or positive, depending on my mood. Whenever I start to feel discouraged or despondent, like the rest of the world has turned its back on me and is just one big disappointment, I listen to slow, mournful, and depressing music. I especially like songs that have meaningful lyrics—lyrics that make you ponder over what kind of person you want to be, what kind of role or purpose you have in this world, or what kind of an effect you have on others around you. Music like that is, in my opinion, the best kind of music to listen to. Of course, there are also instances when all I want to do is laugh and jump around the house, dancing to all my favorite catchy tunes. During those times, I listen to a totally different style of music. It could be pop, techno, electronic, punk, or even all of the above. It all depends on my mood, which constantly varies as the days progress. You may have heard people say that they cannot live without music. People say a lot of things...most of which are far from the truth. However, when I say that it is impossible for me to live without music, I truly mean it. To be honest, I can’t remember the last time I haven’t listened to music. I literally cannot go one day without…
