My Literacy Journey
“A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge,” said by a famous American novelist, George R.R. Martin. Personally, I couldn’t agree more with this quote. Books are always being with me throughout my life. My literacy journey started when I was nine years old. I started with some simple Dairy and short stories. By that time, I was really enjoy doing these. I thought this is the way I can be creative and remember my opinions. In the past ten years, I wrote few different types of essays and research papers. Of course, all of these writings are in Chinese. Three years ago, I decided to come to America for high school. This decision led me into my English literacy. The grammar in English and Chinese are different. Reading is the way I learn these grammar points. …show more content…
I feel like ever since I started to have memory of my life, books are always next to me. When I was a little boy, I only read the things that I was interested in. The reason of this is these books can make me keep focusing on reading. Looking back these days, I am impressed by how much benefits I earned from reading. I feel like reading helps me get ahead of others, and I guess this is why I still like reading in nowadays. My reading becomes more various in today’s life. Of course, I still like reading the books that I am interested in. However, I am trying to focus more on reading the books that can inspire me. To me, reading a good book or even a short story will make me more motivated on my works. Recently, I am tended to read more materials about my major. I wish I can investigate more about my future job by reading these material. Meanwhile, everything I am reading now is in English. I believe this is one of the most effective ways to improve my writing and reading
