My essay will consist of the reasons why we shouldn’t put so much energy into getting rid of illegal immigrants and keeping them out. My inspiration stems from, my life as an undocumented immigrant by Jose Antonio Vargas. I also have family who are illegal immigrants and family members who are in the process of becoming citizens. I want to inform readers of the benefits this country receives from illegal immigrants: how it balances our economy, additional tax revenue and the cultural diffusion.
In 2012 the department of homeland security estimates that 11. 4 million unauthorized immigrants living in the United States, down from 11.5 million in 2011. Top countries of origin are: Mexico (59%) El Salvador (6%) Guatemala (5%) Honduras (3%) Philippines (3%).

How he first came into the country and through all the struggles he had to go through just for trying to have a better life. Immigration should be seen as a positive and not so much as a negative thing in our country. Immigration is moving to a foreign country and staying there permanently. Immigration has been around since the beginning of this country. In the 1600s America got many immigrants due to it being the colonial era. Many immigrants came to America looking from economical opportunities while other groups of immigrants like the pilgrims came seeking religious freedom.
