My Ignorance Short Story
When I woke up at 6:45 in the morning, I thought I was just preparing for another day of torture. However, I didn’t know that what happened in the next week would change my life forever. Well, forever is a long time, so maybe not forever. Anyways, I, Meghan Vanessa Williams, never would have thought that my ignorance could change my perspective on everything that I’ve experienced in the last few years. I reluctantly started my journey down the stairs. I was greeted with a ‘good morning’ from my mom, dad, and brother, which is everyone in my family except one person. Blaire was never amiable towards me, unless she was forced to, but even then you could hear the sarcasm laced in her voice. I hesitantly fixed my cereal hoping she would realize that the only available seat was near her which would result in her leaving, but of course luck was not on my side. I slowly approached the seat, and waited for her to notice me, and fortunately she …show more content…
Blaire would be walking through the door any minute. Right on cue, she walked in. With an evil yet suspicious glare thrown my way, she marched up the stairs. Five minutes after Blaire walked up the stairs we heard a loud, annoying squeal. Let me explain.

After, we got home we ran up the stairs. Then we split up to make sure everything would get done in time. I went into Blaire’s bathroom and set the water temperature to freezing cold. Ameteur move, I know. Destany ran into Blaire’s closet and replaced all of her clothes with mine, and Sarah went into Blaire’s room and threw away all beauty supplies that could make her look prettier than me. Maybe I am the evil twin.

As the week went on, Blaire seemed to be getting angrier and angrier, which made me happier and happier. Well, until Mom and Dad found out about it. They walked into my room with scowls on their faces, but they weren't alone. Behind them was Blaire and Trent. I silently prayed to the lollipop gods to spare my

Later, just a couple of minutes before Prep, I sat by the phone rooms, nauseous about how I would break the world-shattering news to Sophie. Ah, my beloved Sophie, we dated last year until she saw Matt Shauman. But I would have won her back with these tickets. Maybe I can say that I was suspended and Max will get them for her, so as not to break her fragile heart. So, plucking up my last piece of courage, I entered a phone cubicle and dialled her boarding house’s number. Brrrr, Brrrr, with numb fingers, they shook like an earthquake, so wedging the phone between my shoulder and ear, my breathing…

I waited for ages but you didn’t show up, so I just went ahead.”, said Natalie, a resident I’d befriended on my second day. I’d completely forgotten about meeting her for lunch that day and I was so intrigued by what had happened that I didn’t think before asking her, “Who lives in the Restricted Wing?” Natalie blinked at me blankly, and then asked accusingly, “Why?” I immediately realized my mistake and played dumb, shrugging my shoulders and saying, “Just wondering.” Natalie relaxed and looked around, “Okay, I’ll tell you.”…

In chapter one of John Steinbeck’s novel, Of Mice and Men, Lennie acts very similarly to that of a child. For instance, when George began to get fed up with Lennie's behavior and finally snapped stating the advantages of not carrying him around on his journey, Lennie later replied to him saying “ ‘If you don’t want me I can go off in the hills an’ find a cave, I can go away any time’ “ (12). This shows how Lennie is childlike because of the ignorance in his behavior. In children they often say impulsive things not giving much thought to what is being communicated and it seems apparent that Lennie has not given much thought to the fact that he is volunteering to live on his own, even in condition. Another example is when George and Lennie settle…

The topic I chose for my essay was number 3, “Why would those in control of a society want to suppress knowledge? Why are ideas dangerous?” In my personal belief I feel that leaders suppress knowledge for our own good. In today's society this is not a popular belief, which is exactly why I believe it’s the right one. Today’s generation wants all of the information, no matter the cost. I think that their logic for wanting to know is perfectly fine, but they just need to understand that sometimes there is information that we can’t handle.…
