My ideal school
One important factor in creating the “perfect” school is the physical layout of the building. I believe it would be beneficial to have different sections of the school specifically designed for one subject. For example all the biology and physics classes would be in the “Science” wing, while ceramics and painting classes would be located in the “Art” wing. In addition, a maximum of 20 students would be in each class so there is more time for “one-on-one” times between teachers and students. Lighting in all the classrooms and hallways would be medium strength. Bright lights might make it difficult to concentrate whereas dim lights would make it difficult to see and possibly put everybody to sleep.
In addition to the layout of the school, the layout of each classroom is also very imperative. In my opinion, the teacher’s desk should be at the front of the classroom so he or she may see all the students.

Students’ desks would be spread out in a half-moon shape so students are facing the teacher. It would be difficult but I think that if the windows in a classroom were to the backs of all the students, it would cause much less distracting. This would involve moving the “front” of the classroom to whichever wall be most opposite to the windows. Bulletin boards could be located in the classroom with pictures as long as they are pertaining to the subject at hand.

"Forget Me Knot"

Don't forget me now, laughing through the tears
For somewhere, somehow, life becomes the years
You speak to millions, but you're talking to no one
Home is the place that you can't walk away from
You seek our opinions but listen to no one
You throw up your hands and tell me that it's all done

We intend to rise through motion, speak through silence
And fight 'til the ocean
No more glimmering hopes or commotions
Our dedication's to each other in devotion

No pretending now, your heart is open and you reappear
For somewhere, somehow, you dropped the ball and you ran with

My idea of an ideal high school is one that students are proud to attend and, at the same time, receiving a good education. In order to achieve this, a school would need to have teachers that are greatly qualified in their field of expertise. The teachers would be efficient and very goal oriented, and would require all to have a master’s degree. The teachers would place the students’ well-being and success at the front of their agenda. My class size would have a maximum of twenty-five students because large classes make it difficult for teachers to get to know their students. When it comes to materials and resources, the teachers would have access to anything that could improve their teaching. The school would be very involved with the community and the parents. The school will work with the local newspaper to promote special events that are happening at the school and distribute calendars so parents can record upcoming events, assignments, and dates to check with teachers on their children's progress. Last, but not least, the school would be very visually appealing. Mood is very important in the school; therefore it is important that the classrooms are painted pastel colors that will not distract students, but improve their mood. The hallways would be a brighter color since these colors tend to stimulate activity.…

In the functional area of establishing a learning environment my goal for my children is to try to make sure that my classroom is fun, safe, organized and set up for success. In my classroom I have seven different learning areas: art, science, blocks, dramatic play, manipulative, writing and library. All labeled with words and pictures. I try to set up stimulating learning centers so that my children can move freely with age appropriate material for their self-directed play and learning. I like to provide a high activity, low stress environment where my children can learn and play happily together. I do have to mesh some centers onto one shelf due to limited space in my classroom. If I could I would change the layout of the room and add some more space for each center.…

Schools are all built according to what the thinking was at the time of it being built. Some schools were built with open plan classrooms. This may cause problems with noise. If it is possible sliding doors should be installed and used to patrician the classroom off. If this isn 't possible different areas of the classroom can be used for different activities. For example when using the interactive white board the pupils could gather round it on the floor. When explaining a lesson pupils could sit round the teacher then go to their desks and do the work. Some schools…

I would also show my students that I care about them and am concerned with their learning by the activities and group work that I assign. I want them to get familiar with one another and become familiar with different cultures and traditions. I believe even by the way I have their desks arranged in the classroom will contribute to their getting along with one another. I believe that by grouping the desks together, while this may create more opportunities for distractions or misbehaviors, if I was in a classroom with five different cultures and languages, I would go ahead and do this for the better cause, which is for the…

In most schools, pupils will spend the majority of their time in a classroom. These rooms must be kept tidy and well organised, taking into account seating positions of individual children and addressing the physical needs of individuals. For example, if a child has any visual impairment, it would be important to seat that child in a well lit area, close to the front of the class where they can more easily see the teacherâ€TMs whiteboard. A child with a hearing impairment may also need to be close to the teacher. A child with SEN may need a desk in a bigger space than…

In planning lessons it is important not only to consider what is being taught and how but also where. In order to facilitate the feeling of an inclusive group a teacher may take into account the physical learning environment and if possible alter it to support inclusivity. Where appropriate this may be as simple as moving the desks from theatre style to cabaret or horse shoe style (Gavells 2012) to encourage group communication and ensure all students can view or access their teacher equally.…

Another thing I noticed about the classroom was the organization. When working with children, organization is everything. There were assigned baskets where students placed their completed work, and all of their daily papers were placed in a folder so that papers would not get out of place, and their work could be easily kept up with. Also, students were always required to remove everything off of their desks unless it was something that they were working on. This not only helped with neatness, but it also helped the students not to get distracted as easily and focus on the work from their social studies class.…
