My Holiday Essay
INTRODUCTION (what is the story about)

Last year I went to visit my grandpa in Ireland. My dad and mum are both from Ireland, so I have lots of cousins there. I had been in Ireland before, but this trip was going be the most interesting ever. I would discover the Stuarts had a dark family secret.
BODY (what happened)
Grandpa met us at Belfast Airport. We had been travelling for a long time and were tired and hungry. “Let’s get you home young lad and get some good old Irish sausages into you” grandpa said. I immediately cheered up, I love grandpa’s Irish sausages and he always serves them with lots of brown bread and hot sweet tea. Soon we were on our way through the cobbled streets of Ballymena and into the little house where grandpa lived all by himself, or at least that’s what I thought.
After the sausages, of which I ate four, my dad suggested I go for a nap. Grandpa said “don’t go to the room at the very top of the stairs, you can use the bedroom beside the bathroom”. I thought that was a bit strange, I always slept in the room at the very top of the stairs when I was in Grandpa’s house, but I was too tired to protest, so I dragged my weary legs up the narrow stairs and fell into bed and into a deep sleep.
I awoke about two hours later to the sound of voices downstairs. One was clearly excited, shouting “Callum’s here, Callum’s here”. The voice had an accent that I did not recognise. At the bottom of the stairs, I was greeted by a grinning boy who looked about the same age as me and who had curly red hair and bright blue eyes. “Hello Callum”, he said, “I’m Dan and I’m your cousin”. I looked at Grandpa and then looked back at Dan. “Why haven’t we met before”, I asked puzzled. I tell you why said Grandpa, and he then told me a very sad story.
Grandpa had a daughter called Mary who married a boy that Grandpa did not approve of. After an awful row, Mary left home and went to live in England with the boy. She did not write to grandpa

Prior to European exploration, there were already many other explorations going around the world. For example, we have the Vikings of which people have theorized that they indeed discovered America centuries before Columbus actually did. There is one further piece of evidence that displays even more people discovered America before Columbus: Chinese pottery that were not indigenous to the people at the time. However, even though Columbus did not discover the Americas first, European Exploration still had a more immense impact within their world and our modern world today.…

American families derive pleasure in viewing Christmas movies, and the hyperbolized plots give children and adolescents, the most influential individuals in society, unreasonable expectations, which affect their practicality. According to the website, “Problems with Christmas Curriculum,” published by Steven A. Gelb, the standard formula used to create the plot of hundreds of holiday movies, shows the same fantasized version of Christmas, which makes one’s choice of how they would want their holiday to take place, difficult. Although several individuals would like the reality of a holiday to more closely resemble the television-version, visual settings, reasons for celebrating, and the holiday’s ending make individual unrealistically expect a more romanticized version of Christmas.…

I looked around and I wasn’t in my room anymore, I was in the hospital during my grandpa’s surgery. The waiting room was cold and sterile and the smell of antiseptic was so strong I could taste it. Waves of uneasiness washed over me as if they were trying to drown me. My grandma and my mother were sitting in the room with me and they looked just as scared. I remembered how long my grandpa was in surgery to get his windpipe removed, how I had thought that I wouldn’t make it through the hours he was and that if he didn’t then I wouldn’t make it for much longer afterward.…
