Thomas doesn’t like that his father is back because his father is acting like he had never left and was taking over of the role of the man of the house which he was when his father was away. I know this because in the story Thomas states that “…sitting opposite of me, in the chair I’d sat in for the past four years.”…

Once upon a time, there was a goddess named Jasmine. She rose from the lands of Magic City. She was the main god. She ran Magic City. She had two children and a magical Lady Bug that could talk. Even though Jasmine looked like the modern everyday woman, she wasn’t. She had powers that she passed down to her children Jaidyn and Julanii. Julanii was only a baby. But Jaidyn was a teenager, 16 to be exact. The family lived in Magic City for years. But Jasmine thought it was time for them to go out in the “real” world. So they moved to Maryland. Jaidyn was enrolled into Fairmont Heights High School. But there was a specific reason why Jasmine wanted to move. She wanted to send Jaidyn on a quest of helping and saving people in any kind of danger. She wanted to test her superhero qualities. Jaidyn had many of them. She had the ability to fly, read people’s minds, invisibility, and she had super speed. Her first day of school went by, and she actually made a lot of new friends. As weeks went by Jaidyn began to love her new life. Until one day, her superhero abilities were tested. She was walking home after school. She walked passed an alley to get to her house. When suddenly she heard a female’s scream and a man yelled “Give me the money!” Jaidyn knew what she had to do, she had to help her. But she didn’t want to be seen. All she had to protect her identity was a ski mask in her book bag. Slowly she put it on and flew to the scene. The man released the woman from his arms and she ran out of the alley. Jaidyn fought off the criminal, tied him up, and called the cops. When the police arrived they praised Jaidyn for her good work and took the man too jail. Jaidyn was the talk of the town since that day. But no one really knew who she was. All they saw her as was a girl in a ski mask. She continued to keep her identity as a secret. When Jaidyn and her family were watching the news one day, she saw that they were talking about “The girl in the ski mask”. It’s not much she…

Children always thought of heroes as people with supernatural powers that would appear whenever they needed them just like Superman, Spiderman and other heroes. In reality those supernatural heroes do not exist. Actually they are people who are just normal, yet are called heroes not for their powers, but for the achievements they have accomplished through their lives. A hero is someone who makes a change in many lives including his or her own life. Defining the word hero may differ from one culture to another, but they share some essential characteristics. Polster (2001) writes that a hero definition must include these following characteristics “first respect human life, second have a strong sense of personal choice and effectiveness, third their perspective on the world is original, forth they are brave, and fifth they are not measured by publicity.” Harriet Tubman is one of the most heroic women in history. She conducted a journey through the Underground Railroad to seek her freedom and the freedom of another three hundred slaves. Leadership, bravery and selflessness are three qualities of a hero and Harriet Tubman exemplifies all of them.…

An epic hero is a brave and noble character in an epic poem, admired for great achievements or affected by grand events. An epic poem, “The main character or protagonist is heroically larger then life, often the source and subject of legend or a national hero.”(Robert) An epic poem is an old English poem filled with both complex people and tribes, supernatural figures of monsters and dragons. Also they can be a mixture of pagan rituals, witch are myths or drowned out stories that have a drastic change in events as the story moves on in life, and Christian beliefs . The story of Beowulf, an original old English poem back in Anglo-Saxon’s time about a serious and worthy traditional subject filled with heroism. Beowulf being the main character known as an “epic hero”, although the author is unknown the story speaks for itself. An epic hero “is the main character or protagonist, heroically larger than life, a legend, known for more strength, and courage of a human.”(Robert) Also “a epic hero should not only be a warrior and a leader, but also be tested to have enough confidence and courage like a god.”(Allingham pg2) An example of a normal hero is a human with normal strength and enough courage to help people, but they also fear death, such as a firefighter or a police man, doing duties to help others as much as they can. An epic hero, or should I say a “super hero”, has super human physical strengths and courage, to put people before themselves, that is also not afraid to die. Beowulf has many treats of an epic hero. For example he is known for his super strength, and his ability to put his peoples welfare before is own. Another heroic trait is that Beowulf had was, he wasn’t afraid to die, as long as he took care of what was needed to be done for the lives of his people, such as fighting off dragons and monsters.…

Unsung Hero Defining the word hero is difficult. The dictionary states that a hero is any person admired for courage, nobility, or exploits, especially in war. For most people, the definition of hero is left to interpretation. Some people believe a hero is an exceptional athlete, but others think it is the local cop that made the news for a job well done. It is all up to the individual who is defining what a hero is. Jan Karski is a hero for several reasons ;he proved to be courageous, demonstrated his intelligence, and he lived to tell his story. It is often said that Karski tried to stop the war himself and failed (O’Keefe). His attempt to stop the war did fail but his voice was heard. Through his efforts, other countries became more involved and they opened their eyes to what was going on. Though he did fail, he played an important role which helped end the war.…
