My Group Reflection Paper
Through the process of writing my group's research paper, we faced frequent challenges which, in turn, led to several learning experiences. Although we were only a group of two, we split the research based on the main topics posed in the question we chose about the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust. It was difficult to narrow our research down to the specific topic of public responses because there was an ample amount of general information on both. Having both of us do research allowed for a more in-depth look at the topic. My ability to research improved with the second draft of the paper because I was able to see where I went off topic and change it back. Overall, my writing did not necessarily increase or improve since it was difficult for us to mesh both of our writing styles into one cohesive paper. I also need to become a better editor of my partner’s writing, as well as my own writing. We also struggled with organization in the rough draft. However, we were able to revise the final draft by including specific research that had greater relevance to the main topic. …show more content…
At the beginning, I did not realize how difficult it would be to combine two different research and writing styles into one well-written paper. In addition, time management was a struggle between the process of researching and writing the paper. I have learned that my time management skills need to improve for future papers. I contributed to the research on the Armenian Genocide, but less to that of the Holocaust. We both worked together writing the paper, yet contributed our own research to the

Looking at my most recent paper, the research paper, I think that I have grown at organization and careful flow of thoughts. I used to just begin writing my papers without any plan or organization, but throughout this course we learned that you should base your paper around your thesis statement. The research paper I wrote was on the “The Medias Impact on Your Body Image”. I could have chosen an easier topic to research, considering that the opposing view was pretty controversial, but I felt I had acquired the skills that I needed to really learn and understand this complicated issue. Enrolling in this English class, I feel that have…

When it comes to writing papers, I usually have a difficult time getting started. I sometimes have trouble with certain topics, getting the general concept, and then turning it into a writing that will get my point across. I feel as if I’m not very creative with my words as I should be without sounding so scattered brained and lost. I was a little nervous when entering English 1102, after having such a difficult time in English 1101 online. At first I did feel at ease but once we got to doing research on a particular food and the articles, I did have some challenging moments. In in the end I did pull my works together and I plan on sharing some of my reflections while taking a look back on a couple of my papers.…

My first objective in leading the team to achieve success and run like a will oiled machine would be to decide what needs to be done and order to accomplish the tasks in. Next I would devise a plan of action to lead the team in a particular direction based on objectives established by superiors. Policies would be established or enforced to help the group stay on target. Continually plan ahead focusing on all possible scenarios, aspects, and possible crises to help be prepared and revise and adjust plans as necessary. The revision of my plans would enable me to enact a change of action, by selecting alternative solutions to the problems as they arise.…

Two years ago, I would say nothing in particular provokes me about writing. I would rather spend my valuable time on presentations or discussions than writing research papers. I always found myself was lost. I couldn’t focus on the content of my prompt. I failed to make my words convincing and authoritative. I am not a good researcher, also not an outstanding rhetorical writer, even today, but I did find something valuable on myself in these two years.…

The paper sounded as if a robot wrote it and, there was very little creativity or explanation of my thoughts. First, I changed one of my sources that would stronger support my claim, and it allowed me to cite the speaker. As a result, I was able to explain my thoughts better which would benefit any reader to understand my paper. Secondly, I used higher vocabulary words and more transitional words. This allowed my revised writing to seem more natural and have better flow. I have gained more high vocabulary words since the beginning of the school year that I am proud to use. Lastly, I added a concluding paragraph because I did not have once in my first writing. I recognized that my writing didn’t sound complete without summarizing all of the evidence to support my claim. In the end, I have gained more ways to deal with the process of writing such as revising, using transitional words, using high vocabulary, and including a concluding paragraph at the end of my…

In my current position, as a house supervisor, I work with five other nurses to provide 24 hour coverage within our facility. Throughout writing this piece, I definitely learned how to analyze text in a more in depth way. From my free write to my rough draft, I really didn’t know how to construct my claims and my support as well as using the rhetorical terms in the way. My timing for these terms also was not where it should have been. I used several terms in places that I shouldn’t of. I feel like my full understanding of these terms was not where it should have been. I think another problem I had was fully understanding what the assignment was asking at first, but the comments from my peers and my instructor actually helped me transform my paper a little more.…

I was involved in a task group last summer at my agency; my group was assigned a policy to review and update, in preparation for our quality assurance site visit. The group got off to a rocky start as there were initial disagreements as to how to precede with completing our report. During the process, we also lost two members and the remaining members were tasked with completing the report by the deadline. The outcome was good and we were able to accomplish the tasks, after the initial hiccups and changes. Initially, within this task group, I was the quiet member. I am a very quiet person and am very thoughtful and cautious when offering feedback and ideas; I generally like to take time to process information before jumping in. In contrast, the other group members assigned were very vocal and opinionated; they had many ideas on how they thought the process should…

Collaboration changes many aspects of the writing process. One important portion that is affected is the research process. Collaboration changes the research process because it involves a group instead of an individual. In an individual writing assignment, the writer only has to worry about their ideas, thoughts, and research. When working together, team members must communicate their research in order to come up with a cohesive list of sources to use on their project. In the collaborative setting, group members come from different backgrounds and levels of education. This combination of ideas can enhance the research process by allowing member of the group to share ideas, review each other’s research, and also gather a larger collection of research form a variety of sources. Collaboration allows members of a group to cover more ground when researching than they can in on their own. As noted by Zutshi, McDonald, and Kalejs (2012), “More immediate and compelling benefits of collaboration for individual academics are the positive impacts of…

It takes a lot of time and practice to improve writing skills and develop thoughts. I am currently in the period where my writing skills are developing. For me writing means practice, practice, and more practice; just how I had mentioned in my First-Week Essay. I have to take baby steps while writing because it is too hard for me to try and perfect all areas of writing at one time. At school students are not taught a whole months worth of information in a couple days because then they would be missing all the little pieces needed to complete the big puzzle. It is the same with my writing, right now I am slowly putting together the little pieces to make them bigger and complete. This essay is a reflection on my previous essays from this…
