When I graduated high school in 2013 I attended a community college in Pennsylvania for a semester. My thought on college in high school were “I don’t really want to continue my education for another four years”. That was until my high school counselor called me to her office seeing that I didn’t apply for schools. She explained that I wouldn’t be able to get a good job or ever own a house without a college degree, so that fear pushed me into continuing my education. My parents were the same way they also told me “most jobs would hire a college graduate over a high school graduate”. That was the final push towards the path of…
My Short term goal is to graduate high school because I am in my senior year of high school and I am planning to finish it. I know that not so many people that are the same age as me are graduating from high school because they made different choices. I want to make a choice that will help me toward my future, so my first steps is to graduate high school. To achieve my short term goal, I need to have good attendance in school, be a responsible person, and be ready to learn when I am at at school. I can be responsible by doing my homework, turning it on time, managing my time to study for test so it can help me to succeed in school. When I’m in class I need to have all my materials, so I can paying attention in class and take notes. I know…
Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and future academic and extra-curricular activities might help you achieve your goals…
There are several goals I have set for myself in college; I aspire to make the dean's-list in all the years I attend college, I anticipate participating in a minimum of two organizations which can get me more absorbed in the community, and finally, I want to become involved with the student body, and attend as many school sponsored events as I can. In my junior year, when I heard I made the honor roll at my high school, I was overcome with a feeling of fulfillment. This was the first time I had made the honor roll and with this achievement was a feeling of pride for the work I put in, and for the way the work reflected in my grades. But, I stayed hungry and kept working to maintain this honor, and I finished on the honor role for the entirety…
I have been planning goals for myself since I was in the 7th grade. Some of those goals have already been accomplished and what joy has come over for me for making my dream goals reality. These goals change all of the time, from my major, to colleges and even where I want to reside after I graduate college. I have narrowed down my list though to a few more goals.…
Almost immediately after receiving my final grades i decided to drop my AP classes. I also was extremely discouraged to join any clubs since i felt that disappointed in myself for not being able to get decent grades. However , with time i learned that what i was able to accomplish was actually amazing; I extremely challenged myself to-do something that was way out of my comfort zone. I acquired skills that I know will be extremely helpful to me in college. All by myself I was able to learn, how to learn the material on my own. I was able to demonstrate to myself that I do have the capability to come up with different possible solutions to obstacles that I face. I also learned that through perseverance and determination, I am able to still accomplish, at least a part of, my goals even in the toughest of…
I was always told "don't plan too far ahead, because something will always come in your way," and I never listened. At a young age I began creating scenarios for my future and attending University of Florida has always been a part of my goals. If I were to be granted admission I would make sure I got the full college experience by working hard to be at the top of my class, joining a club that revolves around my hobbies, and of course, making myself proud.…
As a refugee growing up, I did not had much hope of accomplishing anything in life, let alone go to college. I had to choose a major when I was applying for college, and I choose computer science, but the thing is I only saw what computer looks like, when I was almost fourteen. I have had to overcome many obstacles in life to get to where I am today. When I got accepted to Cleveland state university, I was so excited for being for first one in the family to attend a university. Since I only knew little about what to expect on college, I made some mistakes in my first semester, but I have learnt from those mistakes. When I was in high school, things were simple, so I had little trouble settling into a college environment. Since this is the second…
Summer 2008 I began college as a freshman looking forward to all the new thing that I was going to be learning and also looking forward to all the new people I was going to be meeting. Overall I was overly excited about the new environment. It made me feel a sense of independence that I had never felt before. I was out there on my own and I was ready to make great things happen. Beginning as a freshman I had so many things that I wanted to accomplish. I wanted to become a dental hygienist, a cosmetologist, a pharmacy technician, a nurse and a wardrobe stylist. I knew that if I worked hard I could accomplish and achieve being anything that I wanted. As semesters rolled onward I began to accomplish things that I wanted: pharmacy technician, accomplished; associates degree, accomplished; cosmetologist, accomplished; certified nursing assistant, accomplished. I achieved so many great things but I still wanted more. I felt that there was more out there for me to achieve and I wanted to have it all. If there was more to be learned, I wanted to learn it and be a part of it. With that being said, I worked and I strived for more great things.…
Born and raised in a small community in Central Illinois, I spent my childhood growing up near family and friends. Being part of a very stable and happy family, I had no immediate pressure to worry about my future or the direction I would ultimately take. Like many young people, I focused on the social aspects of high school, actively participating in sports, gymnastics, dance and the extra-curricular aspect of this time of my life. Hindsight always makes things more clear, as I now know that I should have expended more of my effort towards academics with a focus on the future. However, I have no regrets, as this set the stage for a dramatic change in my outlook.…
My family did not have the tools to guide or motivate me to consider another way of life. We lived in a neighborhood where generations of families continue to grow and expand; yet very few ever leave the boundaries of East Los Angeles. Much to my family’s surprise, I made it through high school and became the first in my family to graduate with a high school degree. After graduation, I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do next. I began working and attended various community colleges off and on during this time. However, it wasn’t until I began attending East Los Angeles College that I began to feel I was headed towards my evolving definition of success.…
being college graduates. A struggle that may influence my ability to achieve my academic goals…
Before I started my college career, I had an abundance of friends and family members who would often encourage me to reach my goals. That did not work so well because they told me things that I wanted to hear instead of things that I needed to hear in order to be successful. Everything that I was doing beforehand was hurting me now. After failing my first anatomy and physiology exam, I realized that my old study habits we're not working. I needed to develop a new system in which I could study effectively. I needed to eliminate distractions such as cellular devices, television, and friends from my study area. After failing that exam, I thought about when my brother told me that “College will be easy” but he was wrong. Then I knew that I could not go through college the same way that I went through high school. At first I thought that I would be alright with a C average in the course. Then I realized that I did not want to be labeled as “average.” The curriculum is completely different and it was completely new for me, I needed to adjust and I needed to adjust quickly. I knew that I needed to be motivated within my school work and my school environment, but I also needed to be self-motivated in other aspects of my life such as health. Being more than two hours away from home, I made sure that I took on my responsibilities and was accountable for my own actions. I was completely unmotivated in the beginning, but now I am self-motivated without seeking the satisfaction of…
Lifetime goals are the goals that you set for yourself to have a successful future. Right now I am currently in AP Psychology and I am aiming to be a psychologist in the future. That would be my lifetime goal, to be able to help people understand what is going on in their head and how they can control their thoughts. I would be honored to be able to attend your campus for a chance to study psychology and major in the field. I’ll be honest, when it comes to work I don’t like it but I’ll do it because no one else is gonna do it for me and I have to be responsible for myself and my grades. My grades are almost always A’s and B’s, sometimes they fall dramatically but I will always try my best to bring them to the best that they can be. When I…
I was raised in a small town called Joao Pessoa by my grandmother .The town was very small that everyone knew their neighbors and the town. At this time as was single and living in Brazil. We had a very nice house, which I had my own room and I loved it. I had everything in my room. But was a especial place that I like about my room, It was where I keep all of my favorite things, my craft supplies, favorite CD’s, books, magazines, cameras, photos, and my diary. A place to escape when my house was a little crazy and noise. I used to love stay on my room writing on my diary for hours, every day before go to bed, I used to sat down on my desk and writing about my life. I always think about the future.…
