My Friend
My friend, Mei, is my classmate in high school. When we just entered the high school, there was a gathering to make all students known to each other. She left me a great impression at that time. We sat in a circle on grass ground, and she was just next to me. She has round face, big eyes and smooth skin. And she dressed in a white T-shirt and jeans. She looked so beautiful that I was a little afraid to talk with her.And I also thought that she would not be willing to talk with me, since Icome from poor countryside wearing old-fashioned clothes. However, to my surprise, she greeted me first with big smile. She asked me where I come from, how I felt about the new school, and so on. She even invited me to her home on summer vacation. She said her mother was a great cook, and she wanted me to have a try someday if I had time. She was so funny, and she liked to make a face when she talked with me. It also made me feel that she had been my friend for many years.
When it was her turn to introduce herself to us, she stood up, and walkedgracefully towards the center of the circle. Firstly, she greeted all of the classmates with a bow. Then she began to introduce herself to us. “My name is Mei. I like singing and dancing…”, she said to us wearing a big smile. Hearing that she likes singing and dancing, some guys were excited and asked her to sing a song for us. After a few seconds, she smiled to us, “Ok, I want to sing the Take Me to Your Heart to all of you. Wish you will like it!” Her singing was so beautiful that I immersed myself in it. When she was singing, all classmates applauded for her performance. And some students even sang with her.
I was really afraid of speaking in public. At that time, when I introduced myself, I could feel that my legs were trembling. So, when I came back to where I sat before, I asked her why she could perform freely in front of so many people. She told me that she was also a little nervous at the beginning, but she had prepared for this

In June 2015, I had heard about a girl soccer player from one of my friends, about how good is she in soccer, and she has a nice personality. Her name is Daniela Tellez. In the article, “Unlock your voice”, Mary morris discusses how important it is to speak up, and find your voice. She gives us a glimpse into her childhood, where it all started before she finally found her voice, she states “ when I was in first grade, my class performed a school play to celebrate abraham lincoln”. After weeks of her rehearsing and practicing, when it came time for her performance she couldn’t say her line, she “stammered and sputtered, and in the end someone else said it for her”. This is something that many people fear when they think about public speaking, such as myself. Sometimes it even starts to eat at you and make you run the other way, it even makes you alter your decisions in your life, and makes you question, just like morris why this happens?. Morris, later finds out that studies have shown that “something happens to young girls during their development that gives them stage…

Rachel Stanton sat down on the piano with another female and Michelle Ellison stood directly in front of the piano wearing and elegant purple dress. I was unclear of what type of music that would be performed. Rachel Stanton began playing a very slow soft rhythm. Michelle began to sing in a warm very high pitched tone and this is when I realized that I was at an opera recital. Michelle was singing in what I believe to be Italian. She seemed very familiar with the language as if she studied it. This was completely new to me because I had never been to hear an opera singing before. As Rachel Stanton changed the tempo she played on the piano Michelle would begin to sing more aggressively as she was competing with the piano. The way she controlled her voice showed that she has put in a lot of work and practice into her singing. The way she switched from singing in a very high tone back to low very quickly show Michelle’s versatility and it was simply amazing. As she sung she had a very emotional expression on her face. She was very into the performance. Each song she sung had a different tempo and style but since I couldn’t understand the language she was singing in it all kind of ran…

I interviewed some people. My host mother is my first interviewee. She speaks in public about once a month. She likes everyone else, feels nervous and fidgety. Before she go on stage, she feels the body heat and face redden, so she is used to have a paper and pen in front of her and keeps writing some letters. She also has some ideas on the issue about how to deal with stage fright. When she is speaking, she doesn’t look at audience particular or stare at their eyes. It’s better to put eyes level focus on the back of the audience. And she likes starting her speech with a joke in order to create a comfortable atmosphere. She recommends that rehearsing the speech in front of an audience and then asking for honest feedback not only improves the speech but also makes us a more confident presenter. Note is necessary for a beginning speaker, not everyone can clearly remember all the content of speech when they are nervous. And thinking people is our family can make us feel more close to the audience. My host mother thinks she has changed with more experiences. Specially though her church activities, she has more chances to be able to speak more with others. At the same time, she also served as a volunteer, assisting people promotes her ability to communicate. Therefore, she becomes more confident rather than having stage fright.…

I never walked in heels a lot, let alone on stage. I was really nervous because the whole time I was thinking what if I trip, fall, and then eat the stage with my face. Once the pageant started I felt comfortable for some reason I still haven't fully figured out. I walked out in my outfit of choice first. It was more of my tomboy side with the jeans and shirt but I was not about ready to attempt a pageant with the first outfit not being something I was going to be uncomfortable in. After I successfully had walked on stage in the bright lights and had left the stage, it was time to change into business wear. Just to get back on stage and do it all again, walk to the marker, pause for five seconds and continue to the second, and so on. Once the business wear was complete I knew it was the dreaded formal wear with my new long sparkly dress with four inch heels. Along with walking on stage in heels and a long dress that was uncomfortable I had to answer an impromptu question. I have no problem speaking to people but once I get on stage and I am handed a microphone I am not sure what could happen. I answered my question with grace and not a stutter in my…

We have been friends for quite a while now, and I just want to say thank you for being there when times got tough. I know you more than I know anybody and I'm so glad that we started hanging out together. Lately I've been thinking about the way that we always compete with each other and it's really starting to get to me. I know that it's not always intentional, but it just seems like you enjoy getting into those little arguements that we seem to almost always come across. You and I have alot of the same personality traits, yet we also seem like total opposites at times. You are a really funny/crazy guy and that's why I like to hang out with you, but sometimes you really get to me and you push my buttons. Darin, you argue with me about the stupidest things…
