1. Rizal’s beautiful description of his country, the Phillipines. He used the biblical garden of Eden to describe the pre-Hispanic Philippines. He said that he is glad to give his life to Filipinas – and even if his life were brighter, fresher, or more blest, he would still gladly give it up for his country.
2. What stands out in this stanza is Rizal’s love for his vast love and loyalty for his country, and how he would still maintain his love and loyalty no matter what circumstance he’s in. It shows Rizal’s strong beliefs.
Stanza 2
1. Rizal is saying the men who gave their life to his beloved country and patriotism to the country is without second thoughts. It doesn’t matter how one struggles, that all struggles, all deaths, are worth it if it is for the good of the country.
2. What stands out in this stanza is how Rizal acknowledges that all the battling was for the country’s need. It proves that he is a nice man, and that he finds honor in everything that soldiers do, no matter how important their jobs may be.
Stanza 3
1. This stanza speaks of Rizal’s love of Liberty. The image of dawn that Rizal used in the first line signifies the liberation that he adores. In the third and fourth line, he says that if the colour of liberation lacks his blood, he must die for the country to attain freedom.
2. What stands out in this stanza is how Jose Rizal has such pride in his country. He would gladly give his life and blood for the Philippines, and wishes for his country to show its true beautiful colors.
Stanza 4
1. In this stanza it presents the flashback of Rizal’s love for Patricia that started when he was young. He was young when he saw the martyrdom of the GOMBURZA and promised that he would dedicate himself to avenge one day for those victims. His dreams were to see his country in eminent liberation, free from sorrow and grief.
2. What stands out in this stanza is his dream. Rizal’s dream for a peaceful country may be hard to achieve, but is not fully impossible.
Stanza 5
1. “All Hail!” signifies that he is positively welcoming the dawn of freedom after his death. He also repeats what he has said in the third stanza that it is his desire to dedicate his life to the Patricia.
2. What stands out in this paragraph is Rizal’s great love for the Philippines. His love is so great that he is happy to die for his country. He wishes to love the Philippines for eternity, even after he is dead.
Stanza 6
1. Jose is telling the people that if a flower we to grow on top of his tomb then when they kiss the flower, it would be like kissing his soul.
2. What stands out in this stanza is that Rizal believes that with death comes beauty. He is able to see the wonder and beauty in things that most would find negative; it shows that he a hopeful and positive man.

The Kaspil life is a long road to putting yourself into another man’s life. We have spent the past 3 months learning and and understanding the life of a man, who happens to be our national hero. In my whole Kaspil experience, I was able to link myself to our national hero. I never thought I would have such a connection. Before, he was just someone I had to know because of school. But now, I am truly grateful that I have met the true Jose Rizal. Through the Kaspil experience, I have bonded with our national hero. I have truly related myself to him because, his problems may be of the extremities, but we shared the same problems. The nature of our dilemmas was the same. Like being stuck in the middle, and not being able to have the freedom to choose or decide for you. Like being held against your will because you’re trying to do what is right, and trying to correct what is wrong. Rizal made me see what is truly important in life, and what we should really value in our existence. I bow down to our national hero. He was not anxious to die in cold blood. He was anxious to matter. He was anxious to touch people’s lives and make a change. He saved us Filipinos from being bullied and earned us our freedom through his death.
