My Favorite Teacher in History
In my school there are many teachers. Each one teaches us different subjects. Although all of them are fairly good, there is one teacher whom I love and admire the most. Her name is Mrs. Grace Gilo. There are some teachers, who hardly ever make an impact on, or touch someone’s life for the better. Some just go through life teaching. But there are some that change a person’s life, for the better. She was the kind of person that everyone loved. She never asked too much, or expected too much. She is the most pleasing personality that I have ever come across. She is an ideal teacher. She has all those qualities which a good teacher is expected to have. A history teacher, a role model and now OIC at Mariano Marcos Memorial High School. Mrs. Gilo was my history teacher when I was in second year high. She is very popular, but she is not conceited. She is courteous to her colleagues and the principal of the school. My first impression of her was a terror teacher. But when she introduced herself, my opinion was changed. She introduced herself in a way that we would surely like her. I was pleased by Mrs. Gilo's unique teaching style; her class would never get bored because she always raised her volume to maximum accompanied by various facial expressions while teaching. And as we begin each lesson everyday, we also discover something new about her. If, by chance, any student tries to play the fool in her class, she is firm and does not allow that to happen. But it’s not everyday that she jokes around. There are days that she has a bad temper. Especially when we don’t have any assignment to show her. You should expect your notebook to fly out of the room. And believe me; you wouldn’t want to experience that. I don’t always get to see her mad though. I was always absent. Despite me being absent all the time, she always gives me a chance. Maybe that’s why she also remembers me well. She would just tell me to refrain from being absent all the time and catch up the lessons I had

In week four of our class I conducted an interview with a couple of teachers from my area (central Florida) which asked me to remain anonymous for technical reasons. I called them subject (A) and subject (B). In that interview they both opened up to me and took me through a journey of the school system in my area. One of the teachers has been teaching in this area for about 38 years and from what information I had gathered from the interview I can definitely say that she has seen it all. Teaching was her passion since her early age, she recalls playing teacher with her grandmother and aunts trying to teach them proper English since they only spoke broken English. Her family migrated to Florida from Greece when she was 6 years old and she did not speak a word of English when she started school. She recalls being so shy and since she didn’t speak any English, all she did was sitting in a corner and color all day. Up to this day she says she owes everything to her fourth grade teacher Mrs. Prim. At first (A) thought that Mrs. Prim was the meanest person in the whole world for taking away her coloring papers and crayons and forcing her in a way to learn English. (A) Admitted to me that she hated Mrs. Prim for doing that to her, but once she started learning the English language she had a change of heart. The rest as they say is history. (B) on the other hand has only been teaching for about 5 years and she loves it. She’s an E.S.L. instructor and her day consists of teaching English to kids that English is a second language. She says that she wants to helps others as someone helped her mother learn the English language many years ago and helped her…

Memorable teachers are not the ones, who are the most pleasant to their students, but they are not the toughest ones either, they are the one that make you work for your knowledge, and you appreciate it, naturally much later in life. Mrs. Wright was very kind, compassionate, and honest no matter what the subject was or how she thought we were doing in school. She would always search for ways on how someone could improve. She has the skills to make you want to perform better, and continuously work to improve. This teacher had the passion to teach, and loved working with students, wonderful and necessary qualities to hold. She was eager to do whatever it took for a student to be successful, and to succeed in his or her classes. She always had a positive attitude, and strived for success. She would always say hello, ask about your day, tell you to have a wonderful day no matter what the day bring or crosses your path. She knew, and learn quickly that I have test anxiety, knew I always studied for hours on end, knew I knew the answers too, but once a test was placed before me, my mind would go blank, still does to a degree. She taught me some great testing strategies, ones that I still use day. This teacher was very inspirational, and gave you the courage to strive for success. Something I hope to match in my teaching…
